In honour of International Sign Language Day, we’re spotlighting the efforts of French NGO ADIS (Association Départementale pour l'Insertion des Sourds) to enable deaf people to communicate more easily in their daily lives. 🦻 Since 2021, the Eurofins Foundation has provided grant funding for an ADIS project entitled, 'Connected deaf people – Digital inclusion in sign language'. The project aims to teach deaf people how to use digital tools and connected devices autonomously to access online public services and communicate virtually with their relatives and healthcare professionals. With continued support from the Eurofins Foundation, ADIS is now expanding this project to reach more deaf people that are disconnected from the digital world due to numerous challenges, such as older deaf people living in care institutions. Exciting update! We’ve launched a new talent development programme for Operational and Commercial Excellence specialists within Eurofins Food & Feed Testing, Agro Testing, and Sensory and Consumer Research companies across Europe. Last week, the programme participants met for the first time in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It was a great opportunity to extend their professional network. Our Operational and Commercial Excellence specialists are the corner stones of Eurofins companies. To support them with their personal and professional development, we co-created this exciting training initiative together with the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. The programme participants will gain deeper insights on leadership, strategy development and implementation, project management, and operational and commercial excellence. In 2021, in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, a ‘blind’ opportunity presented itself to the Eurofins team in Australia. They heard that a competing food and water microbiology laboratory in Queensland was due for closure, with its employees set to face redundancy. In this article, Sarah Thévenet, former Managing Director of Eurofins Australia New Zealand Holding Pty Ltd, recalls the story of how the company formerly known as Biotech Laboratories joined the Eurofins network at a time when Eurofins teams outside of Queensland could not travel across Australian state borders. #Eurofins #OurStory #TestingForLife

Meet Emanuele, who joined the Eurofins network in 2022 as a Permanent Improvement Programmes Intern based at our Brussels office in Belgium. After completing his internship, Emmanuele joined Eurofins as a Consumables Standardisation Coordinator. “I started working with Eurofins as an intern, and now I’m continuing my career journey within the Eurofins network as a member of the Standardisation Team. Weeds and other plant pests can no longer be controlled by chemicals as easily as in the past. 🌱 Weeds, fungi and harmful insects can develop resistance against herbicides/fungicides/insecticides over time, due to genetic or metabolic adaptations. Worldwide, more than 600 species of pests have developed some level of pesticide resistance. When resistance to a particular type of pest control substance evolves, certain pest control products become ineffective. This poses a huge risk to global crop production. Eurofins Agroscience Services companies are helping to address this growing problem by predicting and monitoring resistance to new active pest control substances.
