See what we can accomplish if we ban children from restaurants

We become the children haha

Seems like a little slower skating might save a shitload of dropped product. Can you imagine fasting all day only to see your food dropped right as dude enters the door?

[–]Zealotted 487 points488 points  (58 children)

Why was the religion mentioned? Doesn't seem even remotely important here

[–]This_Robot 139 points140 points  (34 children)

Probably because of Ramadan but who the fuck knows.

[–]GammaGoose85 186 points187 points  (28 children)

Ramadan requires food be served as quick as divine wind. And preferably with roller skates. This all was pretty impressive until they all started dying.

[–]Leading_Manager_2277 21 points22 points  (24 children)

Probably dropping from hunger! Fasting every day for nearly a month has to affect one's strength.

[–]Organic-Band-3410 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been fasting and everyone I know since we were seven. Fast every year for a month fron dusk (before sunrise) to sunset. You feel a bit week. You get used to it. And you feel like brand new after that month. It's rejuvenating physically, spiritually and even on societal level.

[–]GammaGoose85 2 points3 points  (21 children)

That sounds hellish tbh

[–]Leading_Manager_2277 0 points1 point  (18 children)

Right? "The act of fasting is meant to remind Muslims of the less fortunate and to reinforce the need to be thankful. As one of the five pillars, or duties, of Islam, fasting during the month of Ramadan is mandatory for all healthy adult Muslims." I mean there's probably better ways to help those less fortunate. Unless they're actively giving the poor some actual food, this seems a bit ridiculous. 🤔

[–]coveted_asfuck 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Fasting is supposed to help them actually experience that position through hunger and be thankful for what they have. It makes sense to me to practice mindfulness through fasting. And they do give to the poor during Ramadan.

[–]ashdjdkdkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that’s not true. We fast to “burn” our sins, it’s a month to show submission to god. What about poor Muslims who experience hunger in their everyday life’s? Should they skip Ramadan?

[–]Exalted_Bin_Chicken 5 points6 points  (4 children)

At the end of Ramadan your meant to sacrifice a sheep and donate it’s meat to the poor, also if someone purposefully breaks there fast they have to pay Kaffarah which is to feed 60 people

[–]ranaadnanm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just one correction, it's Eid-al-Adha which requires a sacrifice from Muslims. If falls roughly two months after Ramadan has ended.

[–]Lyrical-Ice 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not ridiculous because zakat is also one of the five pillars of Islam and it literally signifies as the form of almsgiving and aiding the less fortunate all five pillars of Islam are intertwined. So Ramadan is to understand and aid. 👍🏾

[–]velvety123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that fasting won't directly help the less fortunate, but it might build some empathy for them and help those with more understand what it is like not to have enough.
Imagine if everybody had to work as a service staff earning minimum wage for a month every year. I'm willing to bet that a good number of people are going to start being more understanding to the service staff they encounter in the future.

[–]GammaGoose85 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I suppose its a way to be mindful and humble for yourself in the eyes of God and be grateful for what you have. But a month is a long ass time, plus giving to the poor would be more ideal.

[–]OfficerMcNasty7179 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This would never fly in america. Humbleness is synonymous with broke.

[–]ModsAreN0tGoodPeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can eat after dark so it’s always easier when it lands in the colder months. Also the US has tons of Muslims and likely most are fasting, it’s a big deal to them.

[–]Tripdoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But them being poor is part of god’s plan. You don’t want to fuck up his plan, do you?

[–]JasimTheicon 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What Does Zakat Mean? Zakat is an Islamic finance term referring to the obligation that an individual has to donate a certain proportion of wealth each year to charitable causes. Zakat is mandatory for all Muslims in most countries and is considered to be a form of worship. Giving away money to the poor is said to purify yearly earnings that are over and above what is required to provide a person and their family with their essential needs.

The common minimum amount for those who qualify is 2.5% or 1/40 of a Muslim's total savings and wealth. No zakat is required when someone's personal wealth falls below the threshold during a lunar year, How Zakat Works There are Five Pillars of Islam: the declaration of faith, prayer, fasting during Ramadan, the Hajj pilgrimage, and zakat. Zakat is a compulsory procedure for Muslims who earn above a certain threshold. It should not be confused with Sadaqah, the act of voluntarily giving charitable gifts out of kindness or generosity.

Religious texts offer comprehensive descriptions of the minimum amount of zakat that should be distributed to those less fortunate. It generally varies, depending on whether wealth came from farm produce, cattle, business activities, paper currency, or precious metals like gold and silver.

Zakat is based on income and the value of possessions. The common minimum amount for those who qualify is 2.5% or 1/40 of a Muslim's total savings and wealth.

The recipients of zakat are: The poor and needy Struggling Muslim converts Enslaved people Individuals in debt Soldiers fighting to protect the Muslim community Those stranded during their travels The collectors of zakat are also compensated for the work they do.

Each year, between $200 billion and $1 trillion is spent on mandatory alms and voluntary charity across the Muslim world, according to Islamic financial analysts. 1

Special Considerations As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, zakat is a religious obligation for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth. This rule plays a major role in the history of Islam and has led to disputes, notably during the Ridda wars.

Zakat is considered to be a mandatory type of tax, although not all Muslims abide. In many countries with large Muslim populations, individuals can choose whether or not to pay zakat.

That is not the case for countries such as Libya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Yemen. 2 Those who fail to pay zakat in places where it is compulsory are treated like tax evaders and warned that they will face God’s punishment on Judgment Day.

There has been considerable controversy and criticism surrounding zakat, though. Islamic scholars and development workers argue that it has failed to lift people out of poverty, prompting them to suggest that the funds are being wasted and mismanaged.

A personal residence doesn't count toward wealth and thus, doesn't count when calculating zakat. Property used to generate income, such as a rental or vacation home, does. 3 Zakat vs. Nisab Nisab is a term that often appears alongside zakat. It is a threshold, referring to the minimum amount of wealth and possessions that a Muslim must own before being obligated to pay zakat. In other words, if personal wealth is below this minimum during one lunar year, no zakat is owed for that period. The nisab is set at the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver.

Not everyone pays zakat at the same time. That's where nisab comes into play. Individuals become eligible to pay zakat once they reach the threshold during the full lunar year. So one individual may owe it earlier than someone else.

There is no set payment date for zakat. But it is often paid out at the end of the year once calculations on any leftover wealth are made. Some Muslims believe that paying zakat during Ramadan brings good fortune.

This requires that individuals take regular inventory of their possessions and wealth. This can be done either weekly or monthly. What Is Zakat in Islam? Zakat is an Islamic financial term. As one of the pillars of the faith, it requires all Muslims to donate a portion of their wealth to charity. Muslims must meet a certain threshold before they can qualify for zakat. The amount is 2.5% or 1/40 of an individual's total savings and wealth. Zakat can be paid at any time during the lunar year. Some Islamic countries require citizens to pay zakat while others do not.

How Do You Calculate Zakat? Muslims should take inventory of their possessions and wealth. Once they reach nisab or the threshold, which is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver, they must pay zakat. The total amount to be paid is 2.5% or 1/40 of their total savings and wealth. Muslims can use any number of zakat calculators which are available online to determine their obligations.

What Are the Rules of Zakat? Individuals must meet a certain threshold known as nisab in order to qualify for zakat every lunar year. This is set at the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. People whose wealth exceeds the value of these amounts must pay 2.5% of the value of their wealth in zakat. Individuals who do not meet this limit are not obligated to pay.

How Much Are Muslims Obligated to Pay in Zakat? Muslims are obligated to pay 2.5% of the total value of their wealth less any liabilities in zakat provided they reach nisab. This is the threshold, which is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Some Muslim countries make zakat mandatory, just like taxes. Others, though do not obligate their citizens to do so.

The Bottom Line Sharia is a set of religious laws that adherents of the Islamic faith follow. It dictates various facets of Muslim life, from rituals to raising a family to financial matters. Zakat is an Islamic financial term that obligates Muslims to donate a portion of their wealth to charitable causes. While the practice is mandatory in many Islamic nations, some countries don't obligate their citizens to do so. Whether obligatory or voluntary, using an online zakat calculator can help individuals determine just how much of their wealth they must donate each lunar year.

[–]gnatsaredancing 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So just like any other cult, it has a built in mechanism for fleecing easily misappropriated money out of believers

[–]JasimTheicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind you they dont have like a central authority to collect this, each individual gives on their own, unless the government has a department for this

[–]JasimTheicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats called Zakat

[–]Horror_Entertainer82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I only think of it like that when I was a child growing up. Growing up a muslim makes you get used to it, nowadays it just feels like a part of life

[–]TrenHard-LiftClen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really not that hard. They only thing that changes is how you time your meals/sleep and you'll be a little dehydrated. A lot of people get fatter in ramadan cuz they eat bigger meals.

[–]PrudentLingoberry -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

sounds kinda radical

[–]GammaGoose85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about radical, definitely tubular though

[–]Ok_Belt6476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy Islams

[–]ebonit15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As far as I know it is very different than a regular Chinese menu in a Muslim restaurant. So it is like saying a Mexican Restaurant in the US, imo.

[–]Quixotic-Z 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe that is the whole point of dropping all the food

[–]SphericalBitch2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Restaurant Rollerdan?

[–]name-was-provided -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re serving Top Ramadan

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cuz it’s China. They can’t be committing a Muslim genocide if there’s Muslim restaurants…right?

[–]rookiemistake01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP is probably chinese, in that part of the country it's just a type of cusine. Mongolian hotpot, muslim hotpot, szechuan hotpot etc

[–]Mikesully52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In China, there are restaurants that specifically serve only foods that comply with Muslim requirements.

[–]SmegmaSlushie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Chinese Muslim food is a type of cuisine itself.

[–]NdN_M3n 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Probably propaganda, like it’s probably saying “Muslims are free, we don’t have internment camps for them” The crimes

[–]rookiemistake01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's just the type of hot pot you're eating. You ever think you're getting brainwashed when your friends ask you if you want japanese food instead of ramen?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys still have internment camps for political prisoners.

[–]Usernamegonedone 23 points24 points  (10 children)

Op is a communist, this is propaganda

[–]Tehslyd0r88 11 points12 points  (8 children)

OK, but for what exactly?

[–]ryle_zerg 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To recruit young impressionable roller skaters to Islam of course.

[–]DezDemonah 13 points14 points  (5 children)

Because in China they are run by the Communist party of China and they have completely destroyed the part of China that was historically Muslim and has mostly Muslim people it was basically a part of the Middle East that China took over and after years of anti Muslim propaganda, they put all of the Muslim people into concentration and re-education camps they stole Muslim women and forced them to marry Han Chinese men on top of stealing the children and putting them into "schools" where they force them to never speak their own language and to only speak Chinese and to only uphold communist Chinese morals they have completely destroyed these Muslim people and reduced them down to dog and pony shows like the one you see in the video above.

[–]Vegas-Blues 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Seriously. Use punctuation please. Just randomly toss a period in there…

[–]TheSt4tely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No period, only comma

[–]GraharG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communists ruined the punctuation too

[–]DezDemonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nahhhh

[–]JustrousRestortion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]JustrousRestortion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Chungyman30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is restaurant propaganda 😱😱😱😱 They are propagating food 🤬🤬

[–]Biggbenzz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Muslims in China are free and know how to have fun under the ccp /s

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which op probably copied from a journalist article

[–]thecirclegamesocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe cause the Chinese encamp Muslims and Jewish people, trying to attract random redditors to a trap

[–]WibaTalks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same reason every picture and video has gender and race mentioned these days. People actually think it's relevant to anyone else.

[–]sleazy-doughmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine tho, not bad to do. We need to chill on this shit. Obviously you weren't an issue I'm just saying in general

[–]realbread23 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I can’t even imagine how pissed some of the customers must be, this is hilarious. Imagine fasting for that long and then seeing someone drop your food

[–]HAL9000_1208 115 points116 points  (22 children)

What even is a "muslim" restaurant?

[–]garatatata 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I had some great food in the Muslim quarter of Xi'an, China. Technically it's Huis food, an islamic chinese ethnicity. Not sure if people would know who Hui people are in the West, I didn't before visiting

[–]uzuki_ 56 points57 points  (16 children)

a restaurant where they sell muslim/halal food

[–]Givek-Gogobr 4 points5 points  (15 children)

You will use the place's geographic location, not the religion. You dont say I want some Christian food you say I want some Italian.

I think he use the word muslim as this is Ramadan and maybe it will help with engagement?

[–]uzuki_ 16 points17 points  (1 child)

the muslims in china actually make up an ethnic group called the huis so in this case, maybe it may be more appropriate to call it a hui restaurant... to the hui people, being muslim is both tied to their religion and ethnicity.

[–]HardCounter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Made me think of a joke.

How do Chinese Muslims laugh?

Huihuihui.

[–]ScreamingMemales 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Have you never heard of jewish dishes like challah, matzoh ball soup, and borekas? Religions can have foods like locations.

[–]Imminent_tragedy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well Judaism is both a culture and a religion, Islam isn't!

Islamic countries have VERY different cuisines because they span like a quarter of the earth and encompass wildly different cultures.

I'm not gonna ask for a Döner kebab in a Malaysian restaurant even though both of the countries of origin are Muslim

[–]ScreamingMemales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a kebab in Malaysia at a Muslim restaurant though.

[–]SamsNation 6 points7 points  (5 children)

There’s no point saying “Christian food” as there’s nothing banned in Christianity, Islam does, halal meat or non pork and non alcoholic

[–]son_et_lumiere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year. Right now there's Lenten food on Fridays. No meat (except fish/seafood).

[–]SGT_Wheatstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in english, america yes. in southeast asia there were tons of restaurants with their name in arabic, the local script, and then in english "muslim food"

[–]SmegmaSlushie 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s appropriate to say Muslim food because of the dietary restrictions associated(no pork, alcohol).

It’s common to name such cuisines “Muslim”, especially in countries with historical Muslim minority populations

[–]Aggravated_Pineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more correct word is halal lol

[–]dnbaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons of "Islamic Chinese Restaurants." It's a thing. Try googling to see if one might be close to you.

[–]CaprisunShura 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Pretty much the same thing as a Jewish restaurant. Try thinking before typing, it really helps.

[–]HAL9000_1208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Islam is just a religion NOT an ethnicity so saying "muslim restaurant" say pretty much nothing about the food beside probably being halal... It could be anything from Moroccan, Lebanese or any other region with a considerable muslim population, heck it could even be Thailandese!

[–]sleazy-doughmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want to know. I wonder what sause is best for eating them tho.

[–]GooseInternational66 28 points29 points  (1 child)

For a second I thought they were on brooms.

[–]HardCounter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flying brooms is easily the best way to convert me.

[–]InvestigatorLanky370 96 points97 points  (11 children)

For those going nuts about OP's "Muslim" title, this is pretty common description to specify that a restaurant is certified HALAL, no pork, no alcohol and food are prepared according to Islamic laws/customs.

Its the same as Kosher restaurant for Jewish people.

Members of their faiths cant just eat anywhere and its very important that they dont accidentally break any laws/customs when eating out, it is actually a big deal.

Non believers may not think its a big deal, but it is, mmkay?

Stop busting OP's balls.

[–]ginger_and_egg 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Are they called Halal restaurants or Muslim restaurants?

[–]InvestigatorLanky370 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Muslim restaurants are certified halal by default, you cant be a Muslim owner with a non halal business, at least not legally and if they catch you doing it, you will be charged in many countries, including China.

Non muslim owner halal restaurants exist as well, but they need the Halal certification from the local government. Auditors will periodically check up on you to make sure you dont violate the certification, customers can also file complaints against you and alert the authority if violation is found.

https://halalfoundation.org/us-halal-certification-and-its-processes/

Halal certification is not as strict but still under federal law in the US.

Bottom line, if you serve Muslim food and lie about your halal certification, you broke the law, get charged.

[–]inflatulencer -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

Exactly, so lets better torture a lot of humans AND animals while also waste a shit ton of money just so we can say: "it's halal/kosher/whatever bruh"

[–]FatherPucci617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would require critical thinking from these mouth breathers

[–]BlueMonkey-CoCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What could go wrong with a dozen waiters whipping by on skates in tight quarters?

[–]OverallResolve 6 points7 points  (1 child)

What do you mean by ‘Muslim restaurant’? Halal?

[–]PlainSpader 6 points7 points  (1 child)

No one seems to mention the “Muslim” ban in China. China restricts religion, please do your research people.

I see this as Chinese propaganda geared to educated Muslims on how Chinese society respects them “greatly”…

[–]cnor2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pure stupidity

[–]PopOtherwise8995 19 points20 points  (1 child)

[–]TokinForever[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like those automated restaurants where the food orders are prepared upstairs and then get routed down a conveyor & pass right by the customer!😃

[–]TheHelpfulDad 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What makes a restaurant “Muslim”? I didn’t know that Mohammed specified a menu.

[–]noahnear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He kind of did though.

[–]stromcr0w 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He did so more than other religions. Else we wouldn't have heard of the term Halal meat.

[–]s1rchic0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slick floors and rollerskates? What could possibly go wrong?

[–]Gnarzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow. down

[–]Grouchy-Sign6857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they drop it, they get executed

[–]Ok-March8791 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I thought it was illegal to be Muslim in China or are they skating off with their organs or something from said Muslims ?

[–]Ahorsenamedcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with most things the truth tends to lie between what is happening and what Reddit believes, especially when people read nothing more but headlines then go to the comments where it’s nothing more than memes.

[–]leedade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow this is the dumbest comment ive seen in a while

Muslims in China… millions are in prison camps but its okay though
