So, looking at this, we have a ton of new content:

  • Coat On a Hook
  • Deep End
  • Hornets
  • Laugh Track
  • Space Invaders [Threaded Gold]
  • Tour Manager
  • Turn Off the House

Plus there were two extra songs listed here: Mount Laurel and ENG.

I think we have more than enough for a new LP.

Edit: Threaded Gold is Space Invaders.

  • weird goodbyes

Let’s not forget about how Exile Vilify and Sunshine On My Back were both removed from Spotify/Apple music recently.

They won't land on an EP though outside of a compilation

[–]Aquarian_Girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's interesting. Hm...

[–]Alternative_Belt_389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bless you

[–]magomra 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Is that them building setlists like a fridge magnet!!!! Love it.

[–]rubydaacherryi used to fall asleep to you talking to me 25 points26 points  (5 children)

quiet light, born to beg, hard to find, dark side of the gym….

this band is too good to us

[–]Alternative_Belt_389 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Dark side of the gym PLEASEEEE

[–]Sea_Consideration_70 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Their most romantic song BY FAR

[–]FlashFlooder -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I’m curious why you say this

[–]GreenPhantom4268492 0 points1 point  (1 child)

lol it’s like their only slow love song

[–]FlashFlooder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a love song, though?

I personally don't think so. To me, it's about the death of a relationship.. so the opposite of romantic.

[–]MareksDad 18 points19 points  (13 children)

Wow, that’s a lot of songs. Artists don’t generally have such a large pool to pull from on tours like this, as far as I know.

There’s so much set-up, production, pre-production, rehearsal, etc. that goes into constructing a set list - it’s super impressive that the boys are able to choose from this many songs at any given time. Could be wrong, but I would say most rock bands with high-production value songs usually only have a pool of ~30-35 songs?

[–]yaniv297 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Depends on the artists. Check out Springsteen High Hopes tour, he played 193 different songs over like 30 shows. He's been doing this for ages, taking requests, etc (his current tour however has a pretty fixed setlist). Radiohead generally are also known for playing like 80-100 songs per tour. And Phish, Pearl Jam, DMB, and others.

So yeah, it's not unheard of but still super cool of the band to do it, they could easily get away with playing a fixed setlist and rotating like 10 songs and most fans would have been happy.

[–]siegerroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i ve heard several artists in interviews saying they change it up for their own sanity, so that a tour of several months does not feel like groundhog day

[–]Aquarian_Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing Bruce live for the first time in September. Will have to check out the setlists now to see what to expect, I suppose.

Built to Spill has a pretty big catalog they play live as well, though it also has seemed to be more set recently. Doug Martsch did these live from home shows during the early part of the pandemic and went pretty far into their catalog then, including some rather interesting covers (like the Stones' "Miss You"). Ben Gibbard of Death Cab did something similar, taking lots of requests (I missed those so much when he stopped, though he did one a year after the first one--of course, it wasn't the same as seeing them live in person, but helped me through the concertless stretch of the pandemic). I imagine it's much easier doing that solo than with a full band though, in terms of rehearsal.

[–]solace77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly Bruce isn’t really changing it up this tour. Song or two here or there.

[–]00000000000 2 points3 points  (6 children)

You’re right. But still, laughs in /r/phish

[–]magomra 3 points4 points  (5 children)

and r/dmb

[–]00000000000 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is a KGLW/National collab asking too much??

I just did 4 nights of National in Chicago and have 3 nights of Gizz coming up!

[–]dfrvanloonDreaming in Total Darkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sir, you are living the dream

[–]GreenPhantom4268492 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and r/radiohead

saw them in boston in 2018, 48 different songs across 2 nights lol

[–]jagrbro68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're Phish / DMB, this is awesome of TN to finally start tapping into The Grateful Dead for their show sets.

[–]kurttheflirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well they almost jam for some of their songs live, they can be so different from their recorded versions, so probably a lot easier when you’re not trying to make the songs sound exactly the same every time

[–]GreenPhantom4268492 15 points16 points  (5 children)

EMPIRE LINE!!!!!

EMPIRE LINE!!!!

[–]GreenPhantom4268492 2 points3 points  (4 children)

(in portland please lol)

[–]Nysdsqpa321 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Will be in Portland next weekend for both shows. Yes Empire Line. I’m with you. Just really want to see them - feel as if I let go of expectations… they will Deliver!

[–]jagrbro68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be there, driving over from SoDak tomorrow.

Going with a group of friends.

[–]Nysdsqpa321 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How is the venue?

[–]jagrbro68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful // saw them there in 2019.

Almost died when I heard them soundchecking NOT IN KANSAS and then literally died when they played it.

[–]tegularian 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I’m counting 72 songs on that board.

[–]solace77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus they’ve played Sorrow which isn’t on the board…

[–]paxcoont 9 points10 points  (2 children)

They've played Space Invaders this tour but it's not on the list, unless it goes by a different name here...

[–]wazzup4567 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Threaded Gold is the same as Space Invaders!

[–]SugarMouseOnReddit 7 points8 points  (5 children)

At least Quiet Light is on the list. Was thinking they forgot about that masterpiece of a song.

[–]junglebunglerumble 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Yeah they seem to have forgot about a lot of IAETF stuff, I always assumed songs like Oblivions would be tour regulars but I think there's only 3 songs from that album on this board

[–]dougwake 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I think it's the lack of a female singer accompanying that is limiting the IAETF options.

[–]SugarMouseOnReddit 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not having female singers does restrict some of the songs from IAETF, but not many of them. Quiet Light, Light Years, I Am Easy To Find, Rylan, So Far So Fast, and Rosey can all be played and have been played with Matt as the primary vocalist and they wound great.

[–]dougwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No argument at all, just guessing why they aren’t being featured as much.

[–]Aquarian_Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, though when I saw them in Harrisburg in the fall, they had the opener--Indigo Sparke, I think?--sing the female part on Rylan. Sorta hoped the singer of Soccer Mommy (or is she herself Soccer Mommy?) might have joined them on something, but no.

[–]city_middle 7 points8 points  (1 child)

We had the White Board…now we have the MAGNET BOARD

[–]IceRat23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

magnets make machines go crazy

[–]AltruisticFee9770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so good. I want the entire board.

[–]Forward_Following_67A girl inside my cake 🍰 3 points4 points  (0 children)

City middle!!!

[–]rubydaacherryi used to fall asleep to you talking to me 3 points4 points  (1 child)

i wonder if they finally played all of their unreleased songs as only the 6 they’ve played are on their board

i hope i’m wrong

edit: missed laugh track

[–]PaleontologistBig312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - not necessarily the case that they would play each and every track live before release aka The Alcott

[–]elcarbonitesummer lovin' torture party 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Karen :(

[–]cheeseguy412looking for astronauts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]nightlytwoisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nino Rota music, and Amanset pun username and a video of the National feels like a personal attack to overwhelm my musical pleasure meter

[–]SugarMouseOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know what there are four columns on the rehearsed song list?
