About us

At Dyson we are focused on solving the problems that others have ignored; solving them first using our technology and ingenuity. In order to achieve this we need to pioneer technologies that are different and authentic. This is the core of what we do and who we are. We must strive to create the future, every single day by developing new things, different things, things that go against the grain with a diverse and global team of ingenious minds. Dyson employs over 14,000 people and is present in more than 80 countries. And while we are growing fast we want Dyson to remain a start-up in spirit with the freedom of experimentation and learning, constantly reinventing our products as well as reinventing how we work, how we sell and how we support our owners. At the same time we are working through the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson Award and Dyson Institute to inspire future engineers and pioneering a new approach to engineering education. Underlining everything we do in this diverse environment is the need to always show respect, supporting each other as one team to overcome whatever challenges we encounter. We drive empowerment, development and equality in an inclusive environment for our people around the world. The future doesn’t just happen, we look to make it happen, to achieve leaps through pioneering new ideas.

As summer comes to a close in Europe, we are looking back on our mid-year celebrations around the world.  An on-campus air display in the UK. Competitive team sports in Malaysia. Engineering challenges led by the James Dyson Foundation in China. And a fairytale gathering in our EMEA Hub in the Netherlands. There was a huge variety of creative ways that we came together to mark the moment. At the heart of it all were demonstrations of the latest and greatest in Dyson technology, which we used for everything from salon styling to problem-solving team challenges. Since 2015, Dyson people have chosen to support Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK), raising £530,000 to date for the charity through a variety of fundraising challenges. One of those challenges is the annual Tour de Dyson, where Dyson cyclists take on extreme road and gravel routes peddling from our Wiltshire campus to as far as Wales. And this year’s cycle was a major milestone, as the team geared up to pass the £100,000 mark raised for ARUK since the Tour de Dyson began nine years ago. Did they meet the target? Hear from Tour de Dyson founder, James Nelson, as he and a hundred other Dyson cyclists hit the road... #InsideDyson #LifeOnCampus

A very warm welcome to the new cohort of Undergraduate Engineers who joined the The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology this week. It's great to have you join us living and working on campus!  With an academically rigorous degree taught by a dedicated team, undergraduates earn a salary and work on live engineering projects from day one. In first year, they also live in the unique on-campus ‘pods’, designed by James Dyson with the late Chris Wilkinson.   It's not just an education, but the start of an accelerated Dyson career.  Want to find out more? Head to the Dyson Institute website: https://lnkd.in/engUGAv  #InsideDyson #LifeOnCampus

Inside and out, we work in spaces designed to inspire. Our UK R&D campuses are home to 3,500 Dyson people working in labs, studios and offices. Outside, our campus gardeners work tirelessly throughout the year to maintain our vibrant green spaces, which are alive with a wide variety of flora and fauna – as well as grow-your-own veg patches. Across 700 acres of green spaces, we have 13 ponds, 100 flower beds, 1.5km of nature trails and 40 acres of ancient woodland. James Fenning founded the Dyson Campus Gardening club so Dyson People can grow their own fruit, veg, and flowers on campus, and its popularity is growing… so we went digging to find out more. #InsideDyson #LifeOnCampus

Revolutionising motors Highly efficient motors are the key to less energy-hungry machines. In 2002, Dyson engineers began to reinvent conventional motors. The first Dyson digital motor was half the size and weight. We’re continuously developing our motors, scrutinising the performance driven from each joule of energy. For smaller, lighter, faster motors to sit at the core of our machines. Find out more about our journey towards sustainability here: http://ms.spr.ly/60499rGU3

From Dyson Farm to Dyson Fork. We hear from our Global Head Chef, Joe Croan, who gives us a flavour of Dyson’s food culture across our Malmesbury and Hullavington campus. Food is an important part of our campus life. From the free lunches prepared using locally grown produce, to grow-your-own allotments and cookery lessons for Dyson people, there’s plenty to get your teeth into! #InsideDyson #LifeOnCampus

Dyson people’s chosen charity in the UK is Alzheimer’s Research.  Fundraising events like the annual Tour de Dyson raise thousands, meanwhile the James Dyson Foundation has donated over £2m to this and other dementia research causes over the past eight years.    In 2021, when Covid halted the legendary Dyson Christmas party, £1m was donated to Race Against Dementia instead. Thanks to this funding, Dr Claire Durrant, Dyson Fellow at Race Against Dementia, recently opened her new Edinburgh lab, which will accelerate her pioneering research. Claire also has access to state-of-the-art Dyson research equipment and Dyson engineers as she continues her research.   Find out more on that partnership here: https://lnkd.in/gaqdvu52   #LifeOnCampus #InsideDyson

Dyson's beekeeping club have harvested their first honey of the season from our Campus hives. We speak to Dyson Institute graduate Theo Jones, to find out what the buzz is about. Alongside the thousands of bees, Dyson’s UK campuses act as the hive for 3,500 Dyson people. Our campus is enriched by the range of clubs and societies Dyson people set up and run: from cycling, to gardening, the list goes on. #InsideDyson #LifeOnCampus
