This artistic, open air Polynesian-style house is located on the west coast of Raiatea, Miri Miri. The Island Home offers a terrace and a beautiful garden view. Island Home was amazing. Great place, please fix the main air conditioning system and include a creative suggestion or note or requirement/rule in the documents for your guests to sign to include regular personal hygiene/bathing out of consideration for other guests and given the close quarters environment. In the military or any other social institution that behavior is not acceptable. I know its difficult to deal with under the circumstances but listing it in the rules as a requirement takes the burden from the other guests and when it’s an issue it’s been disclosed and agreed to so all guests are aware
Great staff, good facility, recently renovated. Fantastic food. Willing to go out of their way to help us when needed. Close to town , but outside and quiet. It’s very unusual for us to eat dinner at our Hotel; we dined at this one and enjoyed every meal
I was in Raiatea for a 4 Weeks. Definitely the underrated island. If you want a tourist trap filled with rich anoying people go to Bora Bora. Here is the place to mingle with the locals ( they are fabulous if you) but you must speak French to have conversation. Do not expect anything to be given a la carte. Here you must make your own adventure and go off the beaten track. The locals again are a prime source of information. By the way best restaurants is xora but the roulottes were great also. Just know the portions are ridiculously big and can be share between 2-3 people. The diving is a must. Both diving companies are great and recommended. It is a must do Island.
Not easy to get around as there are no walking or bicycle paths but free bicycles from the lodge were good but a little dangerous on the roads, drivers were considerate. Lodge a nice place and friendly host. Personally I just did did not like the barking dogs and crowing roosters at other properties or the road noise.
Don't expect much in terms of views/sights on the island itself, good to stay a few days to enjoy the quiteness and explore off the island with a boat. Nice place to enjoy before hitting Bora Bora where all the excitements are.
We spent six days here, four of those on a catamaran. There are no beaches around. The excursion to Les trois cascades is a highlight. People are very friendly but there is not much to do around.
