Why not? Their whole business model is to get people to join and stay in their ecosystem. Much like apple. They'll probably run at a loss on the telecomm business but it'll be made back via other ventures. I think its genius

The telecomm business has been a joke for decades. Its overpriced and customer service is terrible. Imagine if they addressed that and you basically get it for $10 a month (chances are you're already paying) as well as every other benefit you already get

It also makes people leaving amazon prime that much harder as they'll have to change telecomm providers. Barrier to exit is much higher and the cash keeps flowing

I dont know the structure of the potential deal but I'm sure theres a few things in there that are crafty and it wont be a black and white deal.

I'm also sure that they know how things have gone for Visible and Mint and it may well be slightly profitable or break even. I was probably exaggerating when I said it would be at a loss - I doubt they'd do that. Lets say its break-even. It's similar to Costco then. They'll make money on memberships - both new and retained. A lot of his playbook has been from Walmart and Costco

Also dont for a second think it'll be $15 a month or $139 per year forever with this addition. They'll jack the prices up at some point and juicy profits will flow

A recession could still happen. Right now, almost all the indicators say just a slowdown. Not even a soft landing but just slower 1%-2% growth.

But we still have to watch things. The Fed has jacked rates enough that financing costs are very high and will remain there for at least 8 months. Things can still go sideways.

The market built-in enough downturn in 2022 to cover off a mild recession and since that didn't happen, it is recovering some of that now. But this recovery happens on a stock-by-stock basis. Is the price for stockX low compared to prospects now. It doesn't mean the whole market gets bid back up. P/E ratios should also be lower just because interest rates are higher.

But this 2022 downturn was so long ago. The market has almost forgot what it did. If a recession does start up now or in 3 months, the market will take a good drop again just because it has forgotten what it has previously priced in.
