I think i know what you mean. you like the sort of drawn out escalating dissonance and then a sudden resolve to consonance. From the top of my head, here's I think a good example ELO's Fire on High https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9iyqMwYtG4

Close Chorus by A Sunny Day in Glasgow. Entire album (Ashes Grammar) is great and full of moments like this but this is the first song I thought of. May not be what you’re looking for.

One that springs to mind is possibly 'How to disappear completely' by Radiohead. The last minute has a dream like sound that drops sharply into lucidity and back again. Good one to listen to with headphones.
