I saw Arcade Fire in Boston this year; between the setlist (full of many pleasant surprises) the general atmosphere, and the band's performance, AF was the best show I saw this year.
I saw Paul McCartney, Bright Eyes (twice), Smashing Pumpkins, the Killers, the Shins, Snail Mail, among a few others. Each show had its highlights and I'm planning on making a tier list, but AF was my favorite experience.
I was nearly front-row and was mostly enraptured. Seeing Regine absolutely kill "Sprawl II", the transition between "Lightning I" and "Lightning II" and hearing some of the older deep cuts of of 'Reflektor' reminded me why I love this band. The performance was tight; professionals intent on delivering a good show. I'm not a huge fan of 'We', but the songs they played from it were absolutely solid. It's cool to have seen this band three times over the last ten years.
