[–]Raptorscompletelytrustworth 442 points443 points  (5 children)

He was 0-5 last time too, so I guess he had to do it two times

You know he had to do it one more time lol #Raptors

[–]Gran Destinomug3n 908 points909 points  (3 children)

DG put up an 0 fer last year too in the first game vs the spurs.

there's something to be said about loyalty, DG is a real one

[–][SAS] Tim Duncanrattatatouille 115 points116 points  (0 children)

There's a reason fans of his former teams love Danny Green

[–][SAS] Dejounte MurrayOps135 310 points311 points  (0 children)

I remember he was fucking trash against the spurs in his first game back in SA the guy loves his former teams lol

Raptors defense is nasty

[–]Wuhan-flu24 1507 points1508 points  (63 children)

It's ridiculous to think how good they would have been if Kawhi had stayed ...

[–]RaptorsMakaveli80 1459 points1460 points  (47 children)

It's ridiculous to think how good they would have been if Kawhi had stayed ...

Yah true we would have been favourites, but at the same time I'm not sure if we would have seen the growth of siakam or OG if Kawhi and danny green had stayed.

Obviously sucks to lose one of the best players in the world who helped carry the team to its first ever championship, but I still really like the team this year with the grit and hustle and chip on shoulders trying to prove they can do it even without kawhi

[–]MagicMarkBank 492 points493 points  (27 children)

I think it helps more long term but short term they would have been favorites to repeat this year

[–]WarriorsBalls_of_Adamanthium 1590 points1591 points  (73 children)

It's really fucking scary. They have quality defenders at literally every position. Nick Nurse is one hell of a coach. Lebron abandoned the east ship right on time lol.

[–]Spursaged_monkey 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Lol this guy gets it.

[–]RaptorsCheesegrater74 2286 points2287 points  (9 children)

The board man left Lowry, so Lowry became the board man. Insane game from him

[–][TOR] DeMar DeRozanTurtleSquad23 684 points685 points  (3 children)

Everyone calls Kawhi a robot but Lowry's the one that downloaded the new championship update.

[–]jjchicaz 197 points198 points  (1 child)

14 fucking rebounds!! He was getting them from McGee! BOSS!!

[–]CelticsSlattsquatch 1988 points1989 points  (23 children)

Kyle Lowry was the shortest player on the court and still somehow pulled down 14 rebounds.

[–]76ersJohnsRoastPork 1399 points1400 points  (16 children)

He uses that caboose to box out.

[–]Raptorscompletelytrustworth 512 points513 points  (7 children)

That boxout where him and AD went down hard followed immediately by another boxout to prevent AD from getting an inbound pass/cherry picked mismatch is just proof that girth > length

[–]LakersBoyWhoCrapped 611 points612 points  (12 children)

Danny "the inside man" Green with the 0-7 from the field

[–]LakersDonaldtrumpet6543 71 points72 points  (1 child)

He was pretty shit last game as well. Dude needs to step the fuck up cause we are literally paying him 15mill lol.

[–]RaptorsmMounirM 2429 points2430 points  (92 children)

OG has gotten better during the break. 23 points! This guy didn't even play during the playoffs last year

[–]RaptorsRey_Todopoderoso 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Im Done OG, im Done.

[–]RaptorsWiseguyD 287 points288 points  (11 children)

OG is the perfect player to compliment Siakam on his off-nights.

Granted, I don't actually think Siakam was that bad tonight: he and Nick just eased off his offensive load because of the Lakers' stellar interior defense.

[–]Raptorsidr6 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I thought Pascal was excellent on defence too

[–]Raptorsdr_crackgeek 170 points171 points  (3 children)

I did notice Pascal was paying much more defensive awareness towards AD than he usually does on his average assignments. Feels like he definitely sacrificed some offense to help dent into AD's 2/7 rut.

[–]Raptorsbrandonasaur 300 points301 points  (24 children)

That free throw form at the end.. did not remember it being that smooth. I remember to start the season last year OG shot like 50% over the first half of the season. His handles are actually smooth now too. Holy fuck Im so excited to watch OG in 5 years

[–][TOR] Norman PowellRookieAndTheVet 266 points267 points  (10 children)

Leo was saying he put in a ton of work during the break, and you could tell. He actually dribbled the ball without looking like a baby giraffe.

[–]RaptorsMakaveli80 64 points65 points  (9 children)

The dribble and the smooth 3 shots. So confident

Really excited to see his growth

[–][TOR] Norman PowellRookieAndTheVet 42 points43 points  (8 children)

If he develops any semblance of shot creation, it’s over.

[–]Raptorschanandlerer 40 points41 points  (0 children)

[–]Raptorsweezy_fenomenal_baby 238 points239 points  (3 children)

And he CLAMPED Lebron in the 4th quarter, holy shit

[–]Raptorschicogarciamarquez 383 points384 points  (8 children)

Jr Smith be like "Kawhi is still in Toronto?" passes edible to Dion

[–]RaptorsMolicOnePGR 38 points39 points  (2 children)

They sleep on our boy 😤

[–]sleightofhand 99 points100 points  (1 child)

yea OG was lowkey kinda scary that game. Amazing that he got 23 points while basically having 0 plays ran for him while also defending Lebron. Crazy to think what this guy could be in a few years.

[–]Raptorsrcoberle_54 173 points174 points  (4 children)

He didn't play because he had an emergency appendectomy. It had nothing to do with talent or performance. He would have been a huge part of the rotation.

[–]RaptorsmMounirM 66 points67 points  (2 children)

yeah obv. I meant it as even though we lost Kawhi, OG will be playing (plus rest of roster has stepped up)

[–]Raptorsrsrsrsrs 3164 points3165 points  (39 children)

[–]Lakersdarklord0530 495 points496 points  (2 children)

Why did you put Danny Green in the Lakers stats?

[–]dukediggler77 854 points855 points  (13 children)

The Raptors are 100% legit.

[–]SpursMeC0195 89 points90 points  (6 children)

And they're even entertaining to watch.

[–]Raptorskudatah 33 points34 points  (1 child)

I actually like watching the team more this year than last.

[–][PHO] Steve Nashyuhanz 655 points656 points  (23 children)

You have to give it up to the Raptors.

Their game plan was solid by quickly taking the ball out of Davis’ hands, hardly any adjustments from the Lakers outside of forcing the issue and shoutout to the Lakers’ shooters for stinking it up once again.

Raptors offense can be frustrating to go against and it all starts with their guards. Lowry is a classic bully; he’s always in attack mode and will fish any foul he can get and they’ll get rewarded even more for their aggressive offense when they’re in the bonus. FVV is scary. Any raptors ball handler will try and force a drive towards the basket at any opportunity, most notably on defensive rebounds, and it opens up so many opportunities without relying on set plays. Lakers miss Bradley badly as KCP kept getting abused, Smith isnt quite there yet, Waiters aint is so so. Most of them simply had not a lot of energy by the end for defense as the Raptors were relentless.

One thing the Lakers need to learn from the Raptors is setting good screens lol, or at least use screens well for the ball handlers as that’s the main cause of moving screens, which the NBA is much more lenient about anyway but the Lakers couldnt capitalize because of their shit shooting.

[–]RaptorsRezrov_ 281 points282 points  (15 children)

Lowry is a classic bully; he’s always in attack mode and will fish any foul he can get

I've come to conclusion that Lowry is probably one of the most irritating players to play against in the NBA, and I love it. He's short so he can be pretty sneaky, he's got great thieving hands, strong AF (cuz his booty), flops more than a fish outta water, and draws charges like none other. He's our boi.

[–]RaptorsModerateDanger 89 points90 points  (6 children)

I feel like being irritating is an underrated skill. Get them frustrated and they'll start making silly mistakes, which only makes the frustration worse.

[–]RaptorsnobleGAAS 138 points139 points  (3 children)

Watching the Raptors defend on the perimeter is fucking art, man. No one could penetrate the lane at all. And IDK if it's a psychological thing or not but they literally left Danny Green and KCP wide-open multiple times, only for them to brick their shots.

Also, K-Low getting his career-high in rebounds against a team with AD, Javale, and Dwight is classic Kyle Lowry lmao. GGs

[–]Trail BlazerssloBrodanChillosevic 1208 points1209 points  (68 children)

Kyle Lowry is just ridiculously good. I feel like when we talk about him we talk more about his leadership than his ability, but he is just a fucking beast.

OG looked great. Attacking the rim and overall really aggressive, playing excellent D on Bron. Really really impressive first game back for the Raps.

[–]Knicksviolynce 461 points462 points  (7 children)

dude is 34 too... aging like wine.

[–][TOR] Tracy McGradyTeBenny 280 points281 points  (10 children)

He was the best player in the close out championship game 6

[–]Trail BlazerssloBrodanChillosevic 112 points113 points  (8 children)

True. Didn't he have a near-perfect first half?

[–]Raptorsrandommaniac12 139 points140 points  (7 children)

scored the first 12 points for us IIRC

[–]RaptorsRebooted23 312 points313 points  (31 children)

Kyle Lowry never gets praise because he is Top 5 in like everything as a guard but doesn't have any 1 particular specialty skill that stands out (other than taking charges, but most people dont care about that). That doesnt even include stuff that doesnt show up on the stat sheet.

Kyle Lowry is a top 20 in the league this year imo.

[–]BuckNutley 73 points74 points  (5 children)

Dude is perpetually underrated.

[–]frncsca 256 points257 points  (2 children)

OG put on a show and it was amazing to watch

[–]Lakerslumberjawsh 355 points356 points  (12 children)

ESPN Tomorrow: Are the Raptors rEaL cOnTeNdErS?

[–]Raptorscns187 292 points293 points  (7 children)

More like : Should we worry about the Lakers. No chance Raptors make any headlines.

[–]Lakerslumberjawsh 173 points174 points  (5 children)

It blows me away lol 2nd in defensive rating and defending champs but yall can't get a lick of respect just because Leonard is gone. I knew going into this game we were taking an L but the runs we had gave me hope.

[–]RaptorsUnagiSquirrel 939 points940 points  (5 children)

education reform ain't no spot up shooter he aint gotta run to the corner to shoot like hes some 3rd option bitch this aint jj redick this is a fuckin god human steph curry come again only this time hes not a fuckin pussy pull up from the fuckin logo and fight you at the same time

(Ok but copypasta jokes aside as a former teacher let me say - Education Reform is as important to our collective future as Kyle Lowry is to the Raps. Respect to the player and the message.)

[–]Raptorsthegoodbadandsmoggy 79 points80 points  (1 child)

Didn't even know that was an option but was smiling when I saw that, it was an important message.

Also shout out to the ex pats for their commercial encouraging Americans in Canada to vote. That's exactly the type of action needed, and I thought that was very smart of them to do.

[–]Raptorsfalczone 212 points213 points  (7 children)

kyle lowry: our best offensive player, incredible basketball IQ, very tough defender despite his size, always the toughest and hardest working player on the court, a master at getting calls in his favour (and his numbers speak for himself but i'm not one of those basketball reference nerds), north phillys FINEST, the face of our organization and the leader of the defending champions

everyone who doesn't watch us: the raptors still need a STAR to contend though!!

[–]Raptorsrcoberle_54 84 points85 points  (2 children)

I'm ready for the narrative to be how awful the lakers were instead of how great the raptors were. Looking at you espn

[–]LakersOtharp 2089 points2090 points  (311 children)

God damn the Raptors bullied the shit out of Kuzma in the 4th quarter, this is a Finals match-up that I don't want at all.

[–]MavericksGetThereInOnePiece 292 points293 points  (12 children)

kyle lowry (5'11") head hunting kuz on every possession down the stretch was fucking hilarious

[–][POR] Patty Millsshickard 1810 points1811 points  (145 children)

Lakers have the 2 best players in the match-up but Raptors have the next best 7. That's gonna get it done more often than not tbh.

East teams need to be worried about facing Toronto in the playoffs because theyre not fucking around this season.

[–]RaptorsButtsmuggler69 1109 points1110 points  (17 children)

Kyle Lowry decided to be the best player on the floor tonight

[–]McNoxey 536 points537 points  (12 children)

Ya, honestly. Most players just need shots to drop to be a boss. Kyle just chooses to work harder and throw his body on the line. Fucking champ.

[–]RaptorsButtsmuggler69 470 points471 points  (9 children)

There’s no question he’s the greatest raptor of all time. Man showed why he’s so beloved to raps fans tonight.

[–]Raptorschollyer 156 points157 points  (4 children)

Any time someone talks about retiring Vince's jersey my immediate reaction is no, and probably 20% of that is now because there's no doubt in my mind that Kyle should be the first Raptor number retired.

[–]radicalheadphone 154 points155 points  (1 child)

this is facts, he was putting his body in front of people, hustle plays, hitting contested threes. it was a fun performance

[–]Knicksviolynce 289 points290 points  (7 children)

for real how fucking good are nick nurse and his staff? they lost a top 5 player and still look scary as fuck. plus, marc is my daddy.

[–]RaptorsRZAAMRIINF 198 points199 points  (10 children)

The team plays every game like it's playoffs. The offense is sometimes shit but the defense is very elite.

[–]mfc0511 72 points73 points  (5 children)

This was my first time watching the Raptors in a few months and omg is their defensive discipline top notch. The entire team, starters extended, were on a string, closed out well and rotated and covered for the next man phenomenally. The Lakers were moving the ball well too but it just didn’t matter. Some of the best team defense I’ve seen in a while.

[–]feyd87 97 points98 points  (11 children)

People need to stop giving Philly so much credit. They are under-performing and have been for a while. At this point you can say Boston or Miami are more of a threat than they are.

[–]LakersBeavsbeavsbeavs 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Fuckers give us so much trouble. Constant length and pressure 24/7 just rattles the fuck out of our role players

Edit: That said, playing 2 Centers at once only makes all that length even more difficult to handle and that's something Vogel will need to clean up in the playoffs (which I trust that he will)

[–]LakersMySweatyTh1ghs 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Very impressed with the Raptors, gonna be watching all of their games for sure.

[–]Raptorsjps78 106 points107 points  (12 children)

Kuzma has improved but he's still going to get focused on in key match ups to avoid lebron and AD

[–][LAL] Nick YoungTheChipiboy 157 points158 points  (11 children)

Kuz was solid all game tho except the last 5 mins. He was great against Siakam, but a quick and crafty guard like Lowry, just couldn't keep up with him. If anything our superstars were beyond subpar today and deferred too much.

But at the same time the Raptors deserve a ton of credit the way they played suffocating defense.

[–]rnbakneejerk 322 points323 points  (10 children)

Could you imagine if a player like Kawhi Leonard was on this team? That would be crazy

[–]RaptorsBowiescorvat2 206 points207 points  (8 children)

I don’t think it’s crazy to say that would be a championship team for sure

[–]Grandahl13 348 points349 points  (23 children)

AD taking 7 shots and hanging out on the perimeter all night isn’t going to win the Lakers a god damn thing.

[–]Lakersgodfrey1 113 points114 points  (0 children)

well thank god he won't see Marc Gasol until finals, eh?

[–]RaptorsHaratoBarato 162 points163 points  (12 children)

Which is one reason why I love playoff basketball. Raps D made him do that. Then the next game there are supposed to be adjustments. Then a chess match each game.

[–]RaptorsProfessorBeast55 4082 points4083 points  (72 children)

LA? more like L, eh? 🇨🇦

[–]TimberwolvesOnePieceAce 391 points392 points  (37 children)

[–]Raptorscompletelytrustworth 240 points241 points  (15 children)

Raptors haven't lost to Lebron since he was on the Cavs

[–]RaptorsChoesonOne 29 points30 points  (4 children)

[–]RaptorsThe_Unknown98 909 points910 points  (71 children)

LeBron and AD combined: 34 points on 9/22 FG

Kyle Lowry: 33 points on 8/16 FG and had the most rebounds in the game (14). 2 less than AD and Bron combined.

[–]Raptorscreezle 397 points398 points  (19 children)

14 rebounds wtf

[–]Celticsalexm42 272 points273 points  (13 children)

I fuckin love Lowry man. Raps fans definitely overrate our own players, but Lowry is genuinely underrated.

[–]RaptorsHaratoBarato 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For sure. I’m glad people are really starting to see why in a game that mattered to players Lowry was in closing time at the ASG. Watching him try to take a charge on Lebron at the end is the reason Raps fans will ride with him no matter what.

[–]BucksAntetokounmpo_GB_WR 145 points146 points  (15 children)

The Raptors have an insane defense.

But all I heard for the past year was "Kawhi completely shut Giannis down in the ECF!!!!! All by himself! He is the Giannis stopper!!!!!"

[–]Raptors6ixDeshaunWatson4 124 points125 points  (5 children)

I love when Bucks fans actually know that the defence on Giannis was a group effort and more of a competent machine instead of one single monster stopping him.

[–]Raptors0112358f 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think most bucks fans know they did this crazy thing where they watched the games.

[–]BullsJFKFC 95 points96 points  (6 children)

[–]Raptorsrandommaniac12 107 points108 points  (0 children)

[–]CanadaArrayMichael7 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Excellent game from OG!

[–]WarriorsKlay_Bongson 736 points737 points  (12 children)

Kyle Lowry is not a basketball player that only obtains field goals through spot up shooting from beyond the arc. His shot selection is not only restricted to open field goal attempts from the corner as a result of his offball movement, bitch. His game does not resemble that of JJ Redick, but rather that of Stephen Curry while at the same time being a god human being. However, unlike Stephen Curry, Kyle Lowry is not considered a pussy. An example of this is evident through his multitasking ability where he is able to attempt a field goal from half court while engaging in fisticuffs with his opponents.

Lakers won't win the championship if Toronto is in the way, we just don't match up well with them at all.

[–]Raptorscompletelytrustworth 213 points214 points  (6 children)

Nonono, see what the fans don't realize is that the Lakers hate Boston so much, they just decided to drop this game to help insure the Celtics stay as the 3rd seed and play Philly in round 1

just some 23D shogi on Vogel's part

[–]RaptorsDirtymikeandtheboyz1 110 points111 points  (2 children)

All the analysis will be focused on the lakers shooting poorly while the screen shows exclusively AD and bron highlights and right at the end someone will go “gotta give credit to the raptors too, very scrappy performance”.

[–]Raptors6ixDeshaunWatson4 35 points36 points  (1 child)

“man they’re a team no one wants to face.”

“Next up, Max Kellerman says he isn’t worried about the Sixers after TJ warren drops 53 points”

[–]Jazzcarson_da_bomb 49 points50 points  (4 children)

I just hope the nba script writers give us a clippers/raptors finals. Kawhis old team vs his new one

[–]RaptorsLiquidFootie 140 points141 points  (9 children)

Damn we went off there towards the end of the 4th.

Don’t wanna get ahead of myself but we really looked and played like league champions out there tonight.

EDIT: Also, why doesn’t Caruso just shave his damn head instead of keeping that peach fuzz there lmao

[–]Lakerstsuba5a 63 points64 points  (5 children)

Leave our God alone

[–]RaptorsWiseguyD 36 points37 points  (3 children)

Carushow was in full force tonight TBH.

People make jokes about him but he's actually a great player.

[–][TOR] Steve Novakkevpsp101 390 points391 points  (22 children)

Thank you Raptors, was getting tired of jerking it to regular old porn!

[–]levix222 299 points300 points  (21 children)

Canadians laughing right now, raps beat Lakers, covid under control, and we can order weed online with free shipping😂

[–]sleightofhand 36 points37 points  (8 children)

Not all provinces have online ordering for weed :(

[–]RaptorsKizz3r 62 points63 points  (1 child)

Dont have to use provincial websites to order.

[–]SpursSirderksalot 129 points130 points  (4 children)

The Raptors are starting to look very believable as far as winning the East goes. That team just has incredible chemistry and seems to really enjoy playing together.

[–]RaptorsPooter_Intruder 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Kind of like some other organization that I watched do similar things over the last 20 years or so...

[–]RaptorsTurbosmams8 49 points50 points  (1 child)

Kyle and Pascal aside, can we appreciate how good OG actually is? Only missed one shot all game and clamped up Lebron. Underrated as hell

[–][DAL] Wang Zhizhisuzukigun4life 127 points128 points  (9 children)

Every game during today's ESPN quadruple-header wound up ending in a blowout. Damn.

[–]RaptorsCharlottesWebster 189 points190 points  (7 children)

TBH, this one was very close until the Raps made a run with 5 mins left.

[–]Gran Destinomug3n 38 points39 points  (0 children)

tbf there were 3 quarters of really tight 90s-esque scoreline basketball

[–]RaptorsBackgroundEmu9 312 points313 points  (2 children)

[–]followifyoulead 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Raps holding Danny's ring hostage if he tries to score.

[–]Pacerslotusbloom74 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I find the Raptors pretty likable this year. Plus go OG!

[–]PelicansEffectivePower0725 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Toronto with the longest regular season win streak in the history of the NBA. Unbeaten in 2020 for 139 days and counting.
