People who are complaining about Kirby Fighters 2... What? by charl3zthebucket in NintendoSwitch

[–]Grace_Omega [score hidden]  (0 children)

There's a weird ownership mindset a lot of gamers have, and which seems more pronounced in Nintendo fans, that goes like this:

  • I'm the sole audience for Nintendo's games
  • Everything they make is made specifically for me
  • I'm not interested in this game they're making
  • Why are they making a game for me that I'm not interested in?

The reaction is similar to if someone invited you to their house for dinner, and then served you food they know you don't like or can't eat. Except of course that mindset is completely faulty in this situation.

So with that in mind, discussing the game's content is pointless. They want a Kirby platformer and not a Kirby fighting game, therefore the game is worth $0 regardless of how much content it has.

In general, hardcore gamers seem to have trouble just not being interested in something. It has to be objectively bad or wrong that the developer is making the thing.

(See also: people saying "Who asked for this????" when certain features are put in games, as though developers should do only the things their most dedicated fans want and nothing else).

Okay after over an hour of trying, I got 1 order thru, and then after another 30 min I got one for my girlfriend (before yall freak out, we're not flippers, save your anger...) I have 2 order confirmation emails, no idea if that actually confirms my orders lol, at this point I have faith in nothing. But if you want to know how I did it, here's my method that worked for both:

  1. Make sure you have a credit card saved to your nintendo account. This can be done on your switch or by going to my.nintendo.com>click profile top-right>account settings>shop menu
  2. Have your shipping address stored in autofill. Also make sure shipping address matches your payment billing address. Steps 1 & 2 are all to minimize the number of clicks/processes you have to go thru, minimizing your reliance on this horse shit servers from the War of 1812.
  3. Add it to cart using your code. I kept having to enter the code for my gf, and it wouldn't add. Then suddenly I had 3 in my cart and I had to go it and edit the qty down to 1, and this increased the number of steps and time it took. However I have no idea how else I could've "jumpstarted" the cart because hitting refresh did nothing; cart stayed empty.
  4. Get all the way to payment. You'll get stuck and get multiple server errors on the shipping screen. SOmetimes shipping screen will load but it will say it can't get a shipping price at the bottom. You'll have to refresh. Eventually, you will get to payment/complete purchase screen.
  5. The "complete purchase" screen was the hardest. I couldn't ever get it to refresh. It would never load no matter how many times I would hit ctrl+R (as opposed to shipping that would eventually load), so DON'T hit refresh on this page or you will have to start all over. Instead, hit "purchase." Nothing will happen. Go hover your mouse over and click the payment type, where your CC/debit is listed (next to the little blue circle check box). The purchase button will go back to red and you can click it again. Keep doing this over and over and over: click purchase, click your debit, purchase, debit, purchase, debit. Soemtimes everything will gray out and the "swirly circle" that means it's processing will appear, but then nothing. If the swirly circle appears, let it do its thing, and if nothing happens then go right back to it. Eventually you will get thru. The screen will suddenly go back to a "server error" and you're going to be like "FUUUUUUCK" but check your email and I bet you'll have an order confirmation.

EDIT: Both shipping payments are now pending charges on my checking acct, good signs. I'm super paranoid tho so I've been trying to confirm and check the status of my orders, but I also still get server errors. I'm just spamming it just like I did with everything above. I did get the order status of my gf's, says I'm good to go, but I still haven't gotten mine to go thru. I'm on hold right now with nintendo too, hoping to get a human to confirm.

EDIT 2: Holy damn my first gold for being helpful on r/NintendoSwitch. It's like my little nerdy reddit dream come true. Okay but actual edit: I talked to a human, and I was also able to pull both of my orders up on my computer. Couple things: what initially scared me is the guy on the phone could not find/confirm my orders. But he didn't seem concerned, and he said if I can pull up the orders on my end and I have conf emails, those are good signs. He said 90% the confirmation emails are not sent in error (honestly not very encouraging, I know his estimate was an arbitrary number but still...) However he also checked payment on their end (which is apparently more of a sure thing than my pending bank charges) and confirmed that the charges are there on their end. He said the order should update from "processing" after about 4-6 days. Fingers crossed.

Hey, as someone from the dev team, just wanted to say thanks so much for your support!! Great to hear it’s made a strong first impression, and we hope you keep discovering all sorts of surprises in the game for a long time yet.

We’ve never launched one of our games on a Nintendo console before today (Bastion and Transistor are on the Switch, too, but we brought them quite a bit later after their initial release). As someone who grew up playing Nintendo games and owes a lot to them, it’s a good feeling having one of our games there and seeing folks enjoying it...!

It’s funny how all the people hating on Paper Mario are now realizing how annoying it is to have people constantly telling you how terrible they think X game is.

Listen, Rathalos wouldn't be vanishing if you just gave us the drops we needed.

Edit: Well I'm glad my first Gold is from a joke about my favorite franchise.

I was too poor to own a N64 growing up so I never got to play the original Mario 64. I was too poor to buy games growing up so I never got to play Super Mario Sunshine or Mario Galaxy. I've tried going back and collecting some of these games now, but good luck trying to find Sunshine for less than $60 (I've been looking for such a long time).

I am stoked for this release and am excited that they stick true to their originals. I will be joyfully be playing these all weekend after not touching my switch for the last couple months
