Hi everyone, I've been thinking a lot about Dota lately. I love this game so much and I simply cannot wrap my head around Valve's thought process when it comes to TI. Somebody explain.

Let's do a recap of the past few years:

- TI9 in my opinion was the last "great" TI. I loved TI10, but the lack of crowd was very sad for me.

- Since then... There was no TI in 2020 because of the pandemic (even though other e-sports did hold their tournaments), but this was at least somewhat reasonable; depressing, but reasonable.

- Then TI was moved to October. Ok, there were still problems with the pandemic and they had the issue with the venue and had to change to Romania after Sweden said they wouldn't host the tournament there. Ok... acceptable reason, surely they won't make the same mistake again and simply revert it to the summer next year right? (Clueless).

- For some reason, for TI11 not only did they keep it in October (claiming they were experimenting with the format) but they also created a structure by which they split the tournament in parts (Group Stage and Main Event were two days apart) thereby killing the hype of the tournament (for spectators) and messing with the teams' momentum (for players).

- This was also when they decided to try open booths (leading to questionable audio issues) and they messed with the Battle Pass, releasing it very late in the year AND in two parts (one before TI, which was pretty worthless, and one after TI (where all the best rewards were), claiming that this would "keep players engaged after the tournament was over"), however it would seem pretty obvious that this was just a strategy to keep a bigger cut of the money (as nobody in the community had asked for this).

- Finally, here we are... Getting ready for TI12, the most depressing TI since TI4. Where to begin? Did they revert the changes to what ALWAYS worked and we all loved? Not even close. They keep TI in October, when we're all busy with work and can't fully enjoy the experience with our friends. They further destroy the format of the event by breaking it into 3 weekends, completely killing any little hype there is to begin with. They FURTHER destroy the Battle Pass, converting it into a close to worthless compendium, leading to the lowest prize pool since TI3 (ironically, at the time of writing this, we haven't even reached TI3's prize pool yet LUL). And to top it all off, they increase ticket prices for TI to 700$ (prior to fees), somehow asking the community to pay the MOST when TI is at it's WORST.

I don't really know what else to say, I'm worried for our beloved game boys. Where are the pros? Do they have nothing to say about what's going on? Is everyone simply ok with TI getting ripped apart and getting no compensation throughout the rest of the year? What am I even saying, they've already announced no DPC next year...
