Just saw Airplane a few weeks ago on cable, and this scene has been removed. Also, the part where the woman is freaking out, and passengers are lined up, waiting to help her "snap out of it," was removed.

Several other scenes, as well.

[–]Alifad 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Good god, what would they do to History of the World or Blazing Saddles these days!

[–]cphusker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Izzy used to work out with Charles Atlas in the 50’s”. “The eighteen fifties?”

[–]7ate9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What, that TV?

[–]AcidBathVampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]xrimane 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I hadn't seen who posted and thought it was a random photo. I looked at the faces from left to right and at the last face I thought "wait a minute!" Lol!

[–]faultysynapse 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Same!

Next to Lloyd Bridges it's Richard Dreyfus.

[–]Alleycat_Caveman 415 points416 points  (15 children)

Surely you're not that old? Holy cow, I just looked it up, I didn't realize you were 75 already, I figured you were in your sixties!

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 491 points492 points  (5 children)

Thank you!

[–]TwatsThat 45 points46 points  (1 child)

I also thought you weren't yet 70 before I saw who posted this. You all look great!

[–]Lord_Pinhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was surprised on how OLD he really is, I thought he was younger too. He still pumps like he is 30 and has fun bicycling. So Kudos to Arnold, I try to take a few pages from his book with 40 now and get more healthy *looks down at belly* a LOT more healthy

[–]pantstoaknifefight2 31 points32 points  (1 child)

I get tripped out watching your movies and realizing you are so much younger in the Cameron movies than I am now. Seems like only yesterday that you were a staple of so many summer movie must-sees! Where did the time go? In the past three COVID years I've only seen a movie in the theater three times (and they were all Avatar 2).

BTW, love your app and daily emails! People are going to go nuts for it when it gets the full rollout!

[–]ohpuic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently, slowly buying all of Arnold's movies on Blu-ray and watching them. It is an absolute blast. It has gotten in me through some of the toughest times.

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 155 points156 points  (4 children)

Thank you!

[–]Croemato 107 points108 points  (3 children)

We all know it's because you are organic matter draped over a metal exoskeleton! We are on to you, Arnold!

[–]meco03211 35 points36 points  (2 children)

He's responsible for so many deaths. The documentaries are chilling.

[–]LeastCoordinatedJedi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But he also saved that kid and his messed up family.

[–]cthulu0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey in Terminator 2, he killed 0.0 people. Why the terminator software using floating point type for an integer quantity........

[–]CORN___BREAD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He just turned sixty-fifteen.

[–][deleted] 1907 points1908 points  (30 children)

Arnold, what’s it like having friends that are friends with the coolest dude on the planet?

[–]killeronthecorner 648 points649 points  (20 children)

For him to answer that, you'll need to PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN

Why not ask your friends? :^)

[–]GeneralMyGeneral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like every friend, at least once a meeting, stands up to go to the bathroom and states, "I'll be back."

[–]hometattoo 165 points166 points  (8 children)

Mr. Schwarzenegger, I recently rewatched The Running Man (1987), and wanted to say just how interesting that final fight between you and Jesse Ventura was.

Unless I’m wrong and a Redditor fact checks me, I don’t think there is any cinematic scene in history that includes two future Governors in a fight.

[–]mikeoxwells2 29 points30 points  (3 children)

Good catch. What I remember from that scene is how far Arnold had to reach up to Venturas neck, for the choking each other final showdown.

The true highlight of the movie, for me, was the way Maria Conchita Alonzo filled out that body suit. I think I’m still crushing on her.

[–]lurkerbutposter 23 points24 points  (1 child)

In case it hasn't been mentioned....Predator also starred Governator and Jesse Ventura ...okay they were fighting an Alien but I'd say it's tangentially included

[–]DarkSideOfGrogu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Predator also has Carl Weathers who went on to be a Governor, and eventually High Magistrate.

[–]Obiwan_Salami 73 points74 points  (22 children)

its really a shame. the friends i had as a kid dispersed for various reasons before high school, the friends i had in high school faded away and went their own ways, and here i am 30 years later and the few friends i had left from those days and stayed in contact with are now dead, and the 1 remaining has turned out to be a narcissistic gaslighting prick that i parted ways with over 10 years ago and i still live only half a mile away from.

parents....encourage your kids to keep long lasting friendships. or you'll be like me and grow old alone.

[–]EverybodysNuts 45 points46 points  (3 children)

Try as we might we don't all get to be this fortunate, but that doesn't mean it's our fault or we should feel lesser for it. And you know the old saying.. the best time to plant a friendship was in elementary school, the 2nd best time is today.. A friendship doesn't have to be old to be deep, no sense dwelling on lost opportunities, there is still time.

[–]elzzidynaught 12 points13 points  (6 children)

I've never been great at making/keeping friends either. I think at least a small part of that is because when my best friend moved across town, his mom said he couldn't be friends with me anymore so I never got to see him again (except one time in passing in high school). It was far enough that he couldn't just ignore her either, so I don't really blame him, but man that sucked as a kid. Crushed me.

[–]VaATC 8 points9 points  (2 children)

My two best elementary school friends moved way out of State before middle school. I am not sure I ever truly recovered even though I was still able to make some pretty good friends during different parts of my life, but I still wonder where and how those two cats are doing...Corey and Chuck! I hope life has been good to you both!

[–]MichaelsPenguin 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s so hard to “lose” a friend from that time of life no matter how the loss happens. I’ve never had a friendship that was equal to the friendships I cultivated during that time of my life. My best friend & I were inseparable since age 4. We were like sisters and spent nearly every night of our lives together. We had an argument in high school that resulted in about a one year “breakup” and that was such a tough year for me. Making up with her was such a relief. I felt like I could breathe again. Last August, she unexpectedly passed away. Seeing her and saying goodbye to her as she was on the ventilator was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. 43 years was not enough. I apologize if my emotional vomit hijacks your comment. It just reminded me of the importance of cultivating and maintaining friendships from that time. I think you should make an effort to find your friends. I’m sure you’re fondly tucked away in their memories as well.

[–]DaemonBlackflag 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I agree, isolating yourself won’t work in the long run. I’ll take your advice! Looks like you all had fun together reconnecting.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

All my elementary school friends are fascists now.

[–]RigorMortis_Tortoise 27 points28 points  (1 child)

I am happy to see that you can still stay connected to people from your childhood, that’s awesome!

[–]f1sh98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For a second I was thinking “70 years? He’s not that old! He’d have to be 90!”

[–]goj1ra 10 points11 points  (7 children)

You can’t fool me, that guy in the middle is obviously Helmut Kohl.

[–]GlorkyClark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely thought that was Karl Rove in the middle, and I was trying to figure out how you had been friends for 70 years.

[–]lazarus870 1950 points1951 points  (62 children)

Arnold, what's the key to keeping friendships alive for so many years?

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 4449 points4450 points  (51 children)

Making an effort to stay in touch. You guys today don’t know how easy you have it. In the old days, we had to send letters and make sure to see each other when I visited once a year. Now, we all FaceTime. It’s the best. Franz didn’t have an iPhone, so I sent him one so he could be part of it.

[–]eclipsedrambler 669 points670 points  (12 children)

Still close friends with 5 buddies from high school from 20 years ago. We have an active text thread on a daily basis. Super blessed.

[–]Office_glen 86 points87 points  (4 children)

my core group of friends right now there is 7 of us (we are all 35 years old)

I have known one of them for about 31 years, three for 28 years, and the other two about 15 years now. Five of us live within a 5 minute drive of each other, no matter who's house you are going to you can get there in five minutes.

I have known the majority of my friend group for quite literally my entire life. It's normal to me but so many other people I know are shocked by that.

[–]waitingtillnextyear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a really big city and have this relationship with 3 separate groups of 4-6 friends. I now live somewhere quite rural and my coworkers and friends here find it very strange to have such friendships over the years. Arnold said it right above, it's all about making an effort to stay in touch, and ensure it is reciprocated and not one-way; that's how you know it's really meaningful.

[–]TrailBlanket-_0 64 points65 points  (1 child)

Long running text threads are some of those subliminal wholesome reminders in our lives.

I gotta go reactivate mine.

[–]Big-Shtick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends and I just helped our other friend move to his new apartment. We met in elementary school 26 years ago. It's pretty chill.

[–]actionalex85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah me too, plus we've added a couple over the years, but the core of 10 guys from when we were 13. A couple of them I meet weekly, even though we all got kids and stuff now, we still take the time to hang out. And to top it my SO's sister is married to one of my friends.

[–]620five 164 points165 points  (4 children)

Cheeky Franz pulled the ol' trick to score a new iPhone.

[–]NoWater2459 58 points59 points  (1 child)

I, uh, don’t have an iPhone either. Really wish there was something that could be done. I especially don’t have an iPhone 14 Pro Max

[–]1_9_8_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Classic Franz.

[–]VLHACS 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I actually think that improved access hurts maintaining relationships because you feel so inundated with so many DM's that you just give up altogether. You also feel "well, I can always easily find them later if I wanted" and end up procrastinating and forgetting. But I agree, it's the effort that really counts, take that extra 10min to go "How's it going" to someone you haven't talked to in awhile.

[–]CatCreampie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Classic Franz

[–]poonstangable 7 points8 points  (1 child)

[–]Qant00AT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who else but Karl?

[–]blubblu 203 points204 points  (4 children)

Assuming Karl is in the middle, he really looks like he has a heart of gold.

He really seems, from a picture, to be the type of man to give you the shirt off his back.

Aww man you and your friends rule. Thanks for being a good corner of the internet.

[–]goj1ra 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Helmut Karl

[–]spoonpk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing - is that the former chancellor? Lol

[–]Knuttz13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]PostumusPastoralis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classic Karl.

[–]cineg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is always karl! karl!

[–]HowDoIEditMyUsername 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find peace in knowing it’s also a true, genuine picture with verifiable backstory. In a time when you never really know what is real or fake - or who the person behind the keyboard giving advice is - it’s sort of refreshing to see happy, older people just living their best life.

It’s funny how an otherwise common and simple picture can be inspirational.

[–]caesar_rex 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Middle tan suit guy doesn't look all that happy.

[–]NosyBee2003 22 points23 points  (2 children)

That’s Karl for ya!

[–]matt2012bl 831 points832 points  (12 children)

When I was 6 I got to shake your hand at the William McKinley monument in Canton Ohio. You were the speaker at a national child fitness thingy. All I really remember was sticking my hand up and it being engulfed by this monstrous mit of a hand and your distain for us eating "chunk" food 🤣

I met you again at the Arnold classic bjj competition a few years ago. Your hands are still giant.

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 862 points863 points  (11 children)

I’m glad your love of fitness never went away.

[–]ggroverggiraffe 276 points277 points  (7 children)

Or at least their appreciation for hands.

[–]The_Whipping_Post 41 points42 points  (6 children)

Did you know that if it wasn't for our hands, our fingers wouldn't be able to fing?

[–]FrozenIsFrosty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's really cool you get on reddit. I hope you having an awesome day my friend.

[–]liarandathief 366 points367 points  (12 children)

How often do you get together?

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 710 points711 points  (11 children)

At least once a year, sometimes more. But we also FaceTime all the time now to talk about our families like every old shyster

[–]TheKidPresident 53 points54 points  (1 child)

Just want to let you know I read the word "shyster" in your voice and it sounded so so cool

[–]Kukuxupunku 26 points27 points  (5 children)

Sprecht ihr dann auf Deutsch, or are they fluent in English? Or kind of both?

[–]MunichBavaria 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Naja, wäre ja etwas seltsam wenn die plötzlich englisch sprechen. Ist ja nur seine zweite Sprache

[–]phoenixlogix 13 points14 points  (3 children)

warum sollten die auf englisch reden wenn alle ösis sind ?

[–]BloodyRightNostril 472 points473 points  (5 children)

I started left to right saying “I don’t recognize any of these guy—Oh.”

I hear you on staying connected. I’m 41 and my best buddy and I have been friends for 38 years.

[–]kent_eh 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I started left to right saying “I don’t recognize any of these guy

That's my normal reaction to every post of a group of people

[–]Yara_Flor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the same age and my best buddies have now died. One from random gun violence and the other from a stroke.

[–]wascilly_wabbit 231 points232 points  (5 children)

Why did you neglect to poke out your pinky?

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 304 points305 points  (1 child)

I normally do!

[–]MightyCaseyStruckOut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

[–]dan1101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He let his subscription to Fancy Living Digest lapse.

[–]goj1ra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s for Britons drinking tea, not Austrian-Americans drinking espresso.

[–]sheikyaboodi 675 points676 points  (18 children)

Please tell me that your departing words were "I'll be back"

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 897 points898 points  (8 children)

They would call me a forehead if I did that.

[–]joecooool418 200 points201 points  (1 child)

Yea, this is more of a "Hasta la vista" situation.

[–]fisherofcats 51 points52 points  (4 children)

Is "forehead" an Austrian name for someone who said something silly? Like bonehead or goofball? I've not heard that before.

[–]super_temp1234 42 points43 points  (2 children)

I don't know if "forehead" specifically is an insult, but in the German speaking world, tapping your temple (like the thinking meme) is calling someone dumb. I believe it's like "a bird is pecking at your brain" or something.

[–]lotrfan2004 76 points77 points  (5 children)

I'm a nurse and say this alot to my patients as I leave the room. One of them said "I'll be Mozart, you'll be Bach". Incredible.

[–]twobit211 17 points18 points  (1 child)

just make sure you finish on de bach, never on debussy

[–]taenanaman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Or “Hasta la vista, babies!”

[–]Spartan2470 979 points980 points  (41 children)

Here is the Twitter source of this image. Of course it's Arnold.

If you visit there, please watch his message to anyone who has chosen the path of hate.

Edit: Fixed typo (i.e. "is" to "his").

[–]Gracien 725 points726 points  (26 children)

OP is Arnold.

[–]Spartan2470 335 points336 points  (24 children)

I know.

Believe you me, I know.

[–]MikoSkyns 120 points121 points  (22 children)

I am confused. If you knew, why did you think it was necessary to provide the image source?

[–]Spartan2470 295 points296 points  (15 children)

I've been providing sources for many years.

Edit: Thanks /u/mnstorm. Fixed.

[–]DonHac 50 points51 points  (1 child)

It's a weird hobby, but you're helping make the world a better place. Thank you.

[–]Ygomaster07 17 points18 points  (5 children)

Just curious, how does it help stop karma farming bots?

[–]Spartan2470 69 points70 points  (3 children)

Great question. I'd suggest that spreading awareness and education about karma-farming bots helps to stop them. We can't defend ourselves against something we don't understand. A few years ago (and even sometimes now), people would frequently respond that there aren't any bots on reddit. Now most people know this all too well. When I call them out, I provide evidence. Not only does this help other people learn how to spot them, but I send the evidence to the admins. As a result, they usually ban the account in a day or two. I also try to provide username mentions where applicable. Not only do people like to know when a bot copies/pastes their stuff, but that also promotes awareness of the issue.

[–]Hotter_Noodle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great what you do. I’ve noticed you doing this a couple of years ago and it’s awesome. Thanks!

[–]PM_ME_CUTE_FRIENDS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can we nominate admins? Or a supermod because you’re doing real moderation here.

[–]DrestonF1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He literally just posted the answer to that question.

[–]thaddeus423 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had this same interaction with /u/Spartan2470 years ago. I was similarly confused. Now I see him all the time. Dudes a legend.

[–]austinhippie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I believe to direct traffic to the original tweet to also see the anti-hate message.

[–]N19h7m4r3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia is still wrong lol

Someone should add that reddit post as a source.

[–]Rubberbabybuggybum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, OP is cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.

[–]GovSchwarzenegger[S] 169 points170 points  (5 children)

Thank you for sharing that video - I hope the world sees it.

[–]evonhell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s such a good reminder to stay in touch with people. However it can also be a struggle if you feel that you don’t have a lot of people or maybe even none at all who are worth staying in touch with.

Start working on yourself, make yourself happy and put yourself in situations where life happens (the gym, events about your hobbies etc) and by doing things that make you feel better you will attract likeminded people to bond with and hopefully create long, meaningful relationships.

Thank you Arnold for everything you have done and are doing, sometimes I pretend you are giving me a lecture when I’m struggling - just to make it through. I hope you have an amazing day

[–]DrWYSIWYG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you probably won’t read this amongst the thousands of messages you will get. That video moved me almost to tears and I hope that such a thing never happens again and that when I am 75 I can say that I can have a positive influence the way you do and have done with messages such as this. Keep it up, sir (and get Karl to smile, he clearly has some great friends!)

[–]stateofyou 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s a great speech, inspiring. I think it applies to us all at some level

[–]drumstyx 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Man, I want to have a beer with Arnie. He reminds me of my (German) dad and grandfather. What an inspirational speech

[–]turnonthesunflower 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I once replied to him that he inspired my brother and I to show our children the ropes regarding bodybuilding/strength training and he f-ing replied, saying that "You're the heroes now."

Still get goose bumps from that interaction. What a guy.

[–]Megafayce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love this guy so much

[–]The_Flying_Jew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn't know about this video until today.

Maintaining long term friendships is the biggest green flag for me in a person. Maintaining friendships requires effort, diplomacy, and compassion.

[–]machstem 60 points61 points  (1 child)

Arnold, I own a Commando figurine of you that my mom received as a gift from my dad in the 1980s.

She was and still is one of your biggest fans at the young age of 71, and even you replying to say "Hello Nicole", knowing it's you who replied would probably mean a lot.

I snuck that movie out of my dad's VHS drawer and watched it religiously because, a) I wasn't allowed, and b) it was my mom's favorite and she loved you so much.

You're a gem and I'm glad I can even write this and that you might also read it.

Your friend,

A Gentle Canadian

[–]JohnnyBacci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this comment

[–]Hugeclick 90 points91 points  (16 children)

I' m early in the thread and won't miss this occasion.
Much thanks for all the awesome movies! And just for being a nice human overall.

[–]ChadMcRad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He has been here for quite a while, actually. Always feels like I caught something special when I see a post from him.

[–]Esotericas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He posts all kinds of wholesome content, my understanding is he's rather active in bodybuilding subReddits.

For all of his flaws, he feels like a hero we can still admire and appreciate. That speech he gave, appealing to Russian soldiers... chills

[–]MrValdemar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good time was had by all.

The best part of having friends that long is they're not impressed with shit.

"Yeah, we get it, they're re-releasing Terminator for the anniversary, but we're all going back to Charlie's because he got a new lawnmower and it's got a cup holder."

[–]Flippy042 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is there a big chungus Sony 70-200mm lens in the center of the table

Mr. Schwarzenegger,

When is True Lies 2 going to happen? I've been extremely patient. Can you just make James Cameron make it already?

Thanks in advance!

I have to say I admire Mr. Schwarzenegger more as time goes on. While so many of the celebrities we idolize seem to be letting us down these days, he seems to have dedicated his life to being a good role model.

What a sweet picture. Thanks for making my day, Governor.

PS thanks for your help getting rid of partisan gerrymandering in Michigan, too! I worked on that campaign and now we have a state legislature that reflects the will of the electorate.

Hey Arnold, back in the mid 80s I got to meet you on the beach of Paradise Cove. You were so unbelievably nice to me that day. You let me sit with you by your towel and talk to you for a while. I invited you to my birthday party (I was turning 9) but unfortunately you couldn’t make it. I wish we had also stayed friends lol, but I’ll always remember that day.

Here's another heartwarming story about what a great friend Arnold is.

He cut the sentence of a killer because he was friends with the killer's dad. He always said he felt good about the decision because he was "Helping out a friend".

The 22 year old victim was stabbed to death after he didn't let the killer into a party.

The 22 year old victim was stabbed to death after he didn’t let the killer into a party.

I feel like your wording is purposely misleading.

Schwarzenegger's official reasoning was that Nunez's 16-year sentence was "excessive," in part because he had no prior criminal record and did not inflict the fatal wound on Santos. Nunez did stab two others during the fight that broke out after he and his friends were kicked out of a fraternity party at San Diego's Mesa College.

[–]BonDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute, I have never seen these guys in any of the Ahnold movies. Wait a second I think the 2nd guy from the left maybe was a "Johnny cab" fill in.

[–]fuckford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arnold, you are a huge inspiration. Thank you for being you!

[–]Blade_Shot24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo why did Stanley (Tookie) Williams have to die?

[–]nygdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all giants, that's a full sized coffee mug Arnold is holding.

[–]jstjini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a lovely person and the world has been better having you in it. Thank you, sir.

I have a group of girlfriends and we try to get together a couple times a year- it’s been 15 years and we’re going strong! I hope one day to get to take a photo like this. Thank you for sharing Mr Schwarzenegger!

Also, I’m a huge fan of yours!

Proof you should always keep in touch with friends, never know when one will become the Governator.
