I'm so tired of going into every West Virginia-Oklahoma State game thread and seeing the same thing.

"West Virginia is better than their record."

"Oklahoma State is starting a true freshman Quarterback. West Virginia could take advantage."

"West Virginia might win this."

"Oklahoma State is trying to lose."

"lol blowing a lead is so Oklahoma State."

I'm tired of seeing West Virginia having more votes in the pregame thread.

Guess your pretty little head the fucketing fucker fuck what. No they fucking don’t. This team is bad. They don’t got it. This is WVU. There is no happiness here. We will not pull it out. We will leave it in there and the next thing you know you’re 59 years old with nine kids from 7 different mothers, living in a single wide in West Union, locked in the bathroom because your semi retired hooker ex-wife and your “working as a stripper to put herself through college to be a teacher” wife who isn’t actually the mother of any of your kids from Williamson is putting on a performance for prospective clients in the kitchen/living room/middle child’s bedroom/Ford Pinto garage, and you have a beer belly the size of a KEG OF MICHELOB ULTRA BECAUSE YOUR DAD TAUGHT YOU HOW TO BE FANCY LIKE IN CHARLESTON BUT NEVER TAUGHT YOU THE OL COITUS INTERRUPTUS.

And dont bring your chaos bullshit up in here. CHAOS ISNT LOSING TO OKALHOMA STATE 6 STRAIGHT TIMES. CHAOS ISNT LOSING TO A FUCKING FOOTBALL TEAM THAT CHANTS ABOUT BEING A GOD DAMN PRE, AND RUNNING A GOD DAMN PADDLE AROUND THE FIELD. Chaos isn’t losing to a guy who thought it was fine to keep his predecessor's brother for half a season.

Ya wanna know what it’s like being a WVU football fan? It’s like that episode of South Park when Cartman feeds Scott Tenorman his parents in chili except Scott Tenorman’s parents is your dignity, you are Scott Tenorman, and Cartman is that side of you that keeps coming back for more of the same thing to sadistically lick the tears of your face. And the chili is from Wendy’s so it’s three day old unsold hamburger patties in a paper bowl.

Don’t tell me it’ll get better. don’t tell me how to feel my feelings. IT TOOK OUR HEAD COACH TRYING TO DIG UP DIRT TO GET AN ORANGE BOWL. I don’t want to hear “but overtime in two weeks scary boooooooo!” From Kansas State. I don’t want to hear about how we are young but promising. I don’t want to hear about how I just have to wait. Or you’ll be good next year. Or we are sp00ky it’ll eventually happen. Or we are a team on the rise. Or we have a bright future. Or we’re better than our record. Or we nearly beat Oklahoma. Or we nearly beat Iowa State. We just have to wait. Just one more year. I DID MY WAITING. 157 YEARS OF IT! ON I-79 ROUTE 50!

One day I’ll die and the misery of being a WVU fan will be over. I’ll be walking to take my place in heaven hopeful for the sweet release of not watching this team every fucking Saturday. I’ll be prepared to pass through the pearly gates, full of joy and happiness with all my suffering over, there will be sweet calming sound of Martha the Cleaning Lady singing It's West Virginia.... when the doors slam shut in my face and from seemingly out of nowhere I’ll hear Tony Caridi sigh and say, “Touchdown some fucking true freshman from Texas who is only starting because everyone else on the team died in a tragic tobogganing accident.” The music stops, dread fills my stomach, everything turns bright blindingly white. Just then, a shining crimson light appears. Jevon Carter steps out of the light and touches my shoulder. I feel the warmth again, everything will be alright. I’ll be brought back to the promised land. He leans forward as if to tell me something wonderful and whispers almost inaudibly, “Go State.” Before I can even ask what the fuck that even means he kicks me right in the shin and shoves me off the edge to fall into an Orange and black Paddle, duct taped to a horse with my eyes stapled open.

Mike Gundy appears. He tells me to wave or he will burn bits of our banners away. So I start. And the banners are safe. But then a small tv flickers on, and I hear it, the sound of this game starting over. So I stop. I don’t want to watch this garbage again. It was painful the first time. The game goes away. But Mike starts to light the banner. I can’t have that. He's at least 40. So I start again. The game starts up. Right where I left off. So forever and ever I have to go while Mike Gundy moans, "I'm a Man" seductively in my ear while I am forced to watch this fucking game again and again and again.

I for one am disgusted the NCAA allowed football to be back this year under these circumstances. How dare they make the decision that FSU is considered a football team.

Have you watched Iowa State at all the past 2 seasons under him? Do you remember Notre Dame how it got out of hand after they didn’t QB sneak? It was the turning point in the game I think. There’s a lot that went wrong that game though, so I can’t really blame one play

Do you remember UNI last year how we went to double OT because we were way too conservative?

Do you remember Iowa last year how we blew that lead because we were way too conservative and tried to kill clock early in the 4th?

Do you remember how we almost blew the big lead to Texas last year and relied on a field goal to win because he was way too conservative and let them back in it?

Do you remember the OU game how we got down super early with little points against OU’s bad defense because we were conservative then Purdy took off?

Do you remember the Oklahoma State game where he threw Purdy 67 times when just the week prior Breece Hall ran for like 200 yards even though Purdy was making poor choices because he was very clearly absolutely exhausted from passing every play?

Do you remember the KU game last year where it took scoring 20 points in the 4th quarter to beat a 3-8 team?

Do you remember how awful the play calls were in the K-State game?

Do you remember the Baylor game last year where we were down 20-0 before we finally got aggressive and ended up losing anyways?

Do you remember how we almost blew this game from conservative play calling and got bailed out by Rose?

Tom Manning is very bad at play calling. He’s a good OL coach and should stick to that. Some of it is the team playing poorly, sure, but a shit ton of it is bad play calls.

There was an instance in the Texas game I think? Manning tried to call timeout because Purdy changed the play. Purdy got the snap off before the timeout and it turned into a touchdown.

When this team is aggressive, they’re very very explosive and very good. But you see when we get up 2 scores we back off and get conservative and do 3 straight runs up the gut or screen passes to kill clock instead of sticking with what was working.

Edit: clarification

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand OU football. The strategy is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of advanced football theory most of the plays will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Lincoln’s nihilistic playbook, which is deftly woven into his game plan- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Mike Leach literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this strategy, to realise that they're not just briliant- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike OU football truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the spacing in Lincoln’s signature playcall “shallow crosses," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lincoln Riley’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
