She saw that trick a thousand times when she was working vaudeville. But she made her grandson feel better about himself.

[–]ThatGuyWhoKnocks 193 points194 points  (8 children)

In fact, she's the one who made the balls disappear...

Also, nice username

[–]daynage 40 points41 points  (1 child)

You can see her working her magic before the second round

I'm not going to ask how

[–]ashvy 953 points954 points  (23 children)

Gotta care about that fragile self esteem

[–]SmokeAbeer 283 points284 points  (19 children)

With his new found confidence he’ll go on on to do the same trick, but 1000x larger with cranes and giant balls. Eat your heart out David Copperfield, because that would be only thing more impressive than this spectacular illusion!

[–]timmaeus 82 points83 points  (16 children)

And then shortly after he will use that confidence to convince a rich American industrialist to write him a cheque for $1,000,000,000, which he uses to build an army of fully functional robotic hamsters on behalf of, yes, the Russians.

[–]Atmic 45 points46 points  (2 children)

As is tradition.

[–]ClickF0rDick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's amazing tho

[–]MRintheKEYS 169 points170 points  (11 children)

Honestly, that is the grandparents greatest trait and asset. It might be something they’ve seen 1000 times but if it’s their grandchild, they’ve never seen it with the same enthusiasm or love before.

Damn, I miss my grandpa.

[–]Dorkamundo 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Don't make me cry you son of a bitch.

[–]MRintheKEYS 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Keep them in your head and heart, my man. That way they are always there with you.

[–]Dorkamundo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This I know... I just see so much of my grandfather in my son for some weird reason, he passed 2 months before my boy's birth. Not claiming reincarnation or anything, just that a smiling newborn looks a lot like a smiling 90 year-old with no teeth.

It's been 8 years since and I still miss him. Can't bring myself to tear down his workshop, even though it desperately needs it.

[–]SmokeAbeer 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Are you saying I might NOT be the handsomest boy!?

[–]MRintheKEYS 7 points8 points  (2 children)

To your grandparents you will ALWAYS be the handsomest boy.

[–]mydickcuresAIDS 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Nah, they just always told me I'm too fat. I mean.. they were right, but come on gramps the piggy squeals were too much.

[–]Environmental-Can-15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s such a sweet grandma!! Haha. I feel like mine would just tell me to stop effing around lol

[–]yellowcandlebluemask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if your grandparent’s memory starts to go and they start repeating themselves, you can repay them with the same enthusiasm and love.

That’s where I’m at with my grandma. She can ask me the same question a thousand damn times and I’ll answer it with a smile on my face every single time.

[–]chaoz2030 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I thought, my 4 year old daughter does stuff like this and i act surprised for her.

[–]tanis_ivy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bless his heart.

[–]f8ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sure are right... at my age now I feel so stupid for all the times I played those tricks on my grandma and she acted totally surprised

[–]InternetAccount06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She banged the backs out of ev-er-y. Single. Circus magician that came down the tracks but the ventriloquists were always her favorite.

[–]Black5tar5[🍰] 1484 points1485 points  (61 children)

[–]AsYooouWish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Username checks out. Big time.

[–]nutano 6 points7 points  (2 children)

What is this? Whoever made this brand must be from Wawa.

[–]Fried_Cthulhumari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. Wrong Wawa, buddy. Most likely named after the same geese though.

Wawa is a chain of convenience stores & gas stations that spun off of Wawa Dairy, which was based in the small farming community of Wawa, right outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Their deli counter was known for consistently excellent hoagies and sandwiches which developed into a made to order hot and cold food department waaaaay better then any convenience store has a right to be.

[–]kittykat100k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did I not know this existed! When I lived in Houston and would visit PA, I would always go to wawa and bring three hoagies back on the plane, and tastykake pies.

My parents shipped my wawa raspberry tea when I was in college.

And now I feel validated. Thank you

[–]SenikaiSlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for showing me the way

[–]Kutharos 2 points3 points  (3 children)

When I stayed on the east coast a few years, hated a lot of stuff. Only thing I miss is Wawa.

[–]AsYooouWish 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What about pork roll?

[–]TheArrivedHussars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covidfeast at the Wawa

[–]Psirocking 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Did Hoagiefest not happen this summer? 2020 really was trash

[–]SaintMikado 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Hoagiefest hasn't been that great since 2008 anyway

[–]Lazerspewpew 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What was it, any classic for like $3.49? That was the year I graduated high school. Damn dude

[–]TheChosenOne013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was any classic, but they did special weeks. One week would be an Italian, the next would be meatball, etc. I really liked it because it felt like I was pushed to try new hoagies.

[–]JanuaryChili 391 points392 points  (13 children)

Awwwwww that's so sweet. She makes me miss my great grandmother, though it's almost 30 years ago she died. 😍😁😭

[–]zories3 45 points46 points  (6 children)

I’m sorry for your loss but those interesting choices of emojis after such a statement made me laugh

[–]TheMooseIsBlue 29 points30 points  (1 child)

RIP great grandma. 🤮🎲🥗🥽🦦

[–]Dontyouclimbtrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]rampage95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]Weapon_Factory 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My grandma died 😫😫🥰🥰🤣🤣😭😎😎

[–]ExternalIllusion 35 points36 points  (1 child)

I only met mine once and that was when I was a small child. She was such a spitting image of my grandmother I couldn’t tell the difference. My mother had to tell me a million times that it wasn’t my grandma.

[–]adolin69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

when i was 4 all old people looked the same

[–]LuminaL_IV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My grandmas aunt was alive when I was a kid and I met her few times when we visited my grandma.

She was 100 something and she followed a lot of tv shows and knew many newer generation singers, she had a bomb sense of humor and she was incredibly amazing to me as a kid. Even tho I met her few times, I miss her!

[–]BalmdeBono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be 30 years the day after tomorrow I've lost my grandma, I still miss her. I 'm so happy but in the same time so envious when people can enjoy their grandparents when they're adults. I didn't have this chance. Take every minutes of this time and cherish it guys.

[–]skitch23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read your comment my initial thought was “damn 30 years was a long time ago”. Then I realized it’s been almost 25 years since I lost my great grandparents. My dad used to take me over to their house every couple weeks and we would play gin rummy.

[–]LordAxalon110 121 points122 points  (8 children)

As someone who has worked in the care industry I know just how amazing elderly people can be, saying that there's also the opposite which was always interesting being told to "fuck off you massive cunt"by a 98 year old lady named doreen who'd swing for you if you was caught off guard, she was one of my favourites hehe.

But you get some that just need someone to love, so when i used to take them their food (I was the chef there) they'd always want to give me a cuddle or a kiss on the cheek or just to hold my hand for a minute while they spoke to me.

Some of them are the most incredible people you'll ever meet. My all time favourite was Walter. A 103 year old world war 2 vet who did a long stretch in the war, was probably the most lovely person you'll ever meet.

I'd be greeted by a "Hello my good sir" or "well my darling has come to see me" a firm hand shake or a salute, he used to flirt with all the female care workers and was a right cheeky one. He spoke of the war often but you could tell he held an awful lot back, he had alzheimer's so he went in and out of parts of his past. As the condition gets worse you regress into a younger and younger mentality because it's destroying all your memories.

There were times when I'd go visit him on my day off, he'd really open up about the war and what they had to do as a soilder. You could tell the way he justified it to himself was exactly how the military trained him "For Queen and Country, for our freedom, it was my duty as a man and a soilder" the list went on in the same fashion. But you could see it in his eyes the horror that still plagued him.

I'll miss the cheeky fucker, funniest, kindest and most certainly charming man you'd of ever met.

Sorry for the long post, I'm high and I got a job today (Awww Yeeeeah like a boss, 20mins after the interview they was all over me on the phone, I start monday) and my last job was at a care home. It didn't work out but seeing this just made me think of some of the old folks who I really genuinely gave a fuck about.

If you've still got grandparents, please go spend some time with them and learn your family history, learn from their experiences, love them and take care of them, go do their shopping, do some DIY, sort out the jobs they can't do.

Peace and love people.

[–]casual_brooder 4 points5 points  (1 child)

All the best with your new job, mate. Love

[–]LordAxalon110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers dude, it's appreciated :)
