It’s just so easy to blame Obama because all the mouth breathing without a mask on morons will go “well of course it was!”

[–]420catloveredm☑️ 25 points26 points  (1 child)

If not Obama or Hillary then they’ll blame Muslims or immigrants. Just anything to stoke the racism, sexism, or xenophobia that caused people to vote for Trump in the first place.

[–]bearbullhorns☑️ 766 points767 points  (57 children)

The issue is our relationship with Russia right? Obama put sanctions on them. Trump removed the sanctions and tried to get them included in the G7.

So even if it started under Obama in 2014 it would only change the narrative worse for trump because he should have known in 2016 before and while he was sucking Putin off.

Edit: The other excuse seems to be Obama liked to read the briefings and Trump doesn’t. Imagine hearing that and thinking that in anyway makes trump look good. How anti-intellectual do you have to be to be okay with your president not liking to read?

Npr had a sec/def on and he said it's the commander in chief's job to decide what to get more information on, and what to act on. They tried so hard to twist it to somehow it was the people giving him the binders fault for not reading it to him. It didn't work. Dude straight up blamed the rest of the people who read it for being scared of showing Russia in a bad light to an orange baby with an itchy Twitter finger.

Not really how is Obama supposed to know this information when his own CIA didn’t know at the time?

The CIA found out about this information this year and are saying it’s been going on since 2014. So really they are blaming Obama for not knowing everything that happens in the world and knowing information before the CIA.

Also even in this video they say Obama likes to read his intelligence report and talk about it. While Trump doesn’t read it and wants oral reports.

[–]blueoister21☑️ 135 points136 points  (5 children)

Obama is their bogeyman. I remember hearing the way how they talked negatively about Obama during his term: “oBaMa” this, “ObAmA” that. The fact that they still blame him while we’re near the end of Trump’s term is baffling. If Trump somehow wins re-election and does stupid/illegal shit in the future, they’ll still find a way to blame Obama.

[–]mashonem☑️ 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Fox News is state run Republican propaganda and Republicans (not just Trump) are covering up the complicit, lick spittle, deference to Putin he kills our soldiers and they are enabling and protecting that.

They are endorsing it.

There is zero question that Republicans are an enemy of not just the constitution but every single person in this country.

They are our enemy.

And there is NO chance of any kind of reconciliation or unification when it comes to people like that.

I’m so sick of this blind patriotism. I’ve never liked or supported pointless war and violence.

[–]thrownawayd☑️ 518 points519 points  (21 children)

[–]Peviceer☑️ 437 points438 points  (12 children)

It’s nationalism. The blind faith in your nation doing no wrong and an attack to that structure is an attack to their person. They are so devoid of any characteristics they tie themselves to the “success” of others.

[–]STAY_ROYAL☑️ 170 points171 points  (2 children)

Nationalism and patriotism are two different things that Trump supporters trip themselves over. I agree with you tho.

Neoliberalism working as intended. This is exactly how Hitler came to power. Lies sponsored by the capitalist of his day.

Great Depression. Capitalism failed. People are rising up and threatening the elite. Of course the elite have to respond to preserve their power and the status quo. There’s only two roads for failing capitalism to go - socialism or facism. If the workers gain control of capital and their workplaces the status quo changes. The rich will always sponsor facism because their power is retained under it. The same capitalist who sponsored Hitler - including Ford, Benz, and Volkswagen etc. suffered absolutely no consequences for their part and still do business to this day.

Now - here we are: billionaire owned Fox News sponsoring facism in the wake of mass uprisings. Rinse and repeat.

[–]Enathanielg☑️ 65 points66 points  (3 children)

You can tell the world this and people in the US will still act like we all have a chance to be the elite.

[–]Nyxelestia 46 points47 points  (3 children)

Technically, they already are.

Kaepernick was sitting out the anthem for ages before it became a Big Ol ThingTM - except he was doing it literally, remaining seated on the bench during the anthem. There were loud idiots back then, but by and large not enough people even noticed or paid attention to it to care. But even back then, people were saying that it's disrespectful to the troops.

So Kapernick met with a veteran fan and asked for some input, and he (the veteran) suggested kneeling - because in the military, it's a position of rest and a gesture of respect, especially towards fallen troops. So that's what Kaepernick did.

And then conservative football fans lost their shit.

[–]DatDominican☑️ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

, it's a position of rest and a gesture of respect, especially towards fallen troops

yes but I'm saying intentionally calling out the hypocrisy. most people that did 15 minutes of research know kap consulted with a veteran on how to do it respectfully but now it's not an opinion issue. There's a foreign actor encouraging the murder of our troops

[–]astonishingly_gud☑️ 172 points173 points  (8 children)

Never mind the unsurprising level of hypocrisy surrounding kneeling. This is an extremely impeachable scandal considering Trump was briefed on the situation but did next to nothing because he doesn't care. WTF?

[–]HumbleTXPharaoh☑️ 158 points159 points  (1 child)

The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war. -Sydney J Harris

Lol y’all think the people that keep sending these kids to far flung places all over the world to seize markets and resources actually truly care about them? Republicans don’t give a shit about no troops. They only love the idea of the soldiers. The idea of honoring and loving the troops. Republicans and conservatives don’t do jack SHIT to help those poor suckers. Not before they went to get disfigured and maimed. Not during and certainly not after.

A conservative only ultimately cares about one thing and one thing only: themselves.

[–]Kalkaline 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Some jackass Republican was saying on one of the cable news stations this morning (CNN I think) it was whoever was giving the briefings fault that Trump didn't get the information. Like, dude, you served in the military and you're still defending Trump on this while your brothers and sister in arms are getting targeted because of Russia and Trump's incompetence. Just jump ship already, give up Trump and pretend to stand for something and maybe people might vote for Republicans again at some point in the future.

That’s why some use every trick in the book to explain away racism caught on camera as everything but what it is.

We know it it’s so much worse and so do they. They’re trying to explain away as much as they can in between the bigger and more concrete examples.

As long as a racial slur isn’t outright being used in a video, some will justify the clearly racist behavior and explain it away. In some cases they will still justify the behavior when a racial slur is used.

[–]Rich-Interview 44 points45 points  (6 children)

Military guy here, this was never about the troops. I would go on a limb to say 65% or more of active duty military wasn’t offended and knew he wasn’t coming after the military. Sadly, the people saying all that just saw “another black man not acting right”. Never let anyone tell you they were upset for the troops. They were upset because a black man made them question what they were supporting.

[–]25_timesthefine☑️👸🏾🍑BigBootyChocolateAmazon🍑👸🏾 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I honestly don’t understand how kneeing became about the troops?

[–]Nyxelestia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a ouroboros of hipocrisy once you know the full story.

Kaepernick used to just sit out the anthem to protest it, and people barely even noticed let alone cared, but even back then, some people considered it disrespectful to the troops. So Colin met with a veteran football fan and asked for suggestions, and the veteran suggested kneeling/taking a knee, as it also used in the military as a gesture/pose of respect. So, Colin started kneeling during the national anthem...and that's when people started losing their shit over his protest.

They overblow and exaggerate that "kneeling disrespects the troops" to cover up the fact he effectively called their bluff: he protested in a way that implicitly respected fallen troops.

It’s never about anything but shutting black people up. It’s been this way forever.

[–]APimpNameSlickBack☑️ 9 points10 points  (1 child)

[–]Pizza_Pringler 8 points9 points  (1 child)

These people are sacrificing every value they used to espouse just so they don't have to admit being wrong. Remember how they used to be all about gun rights, then stayed silent on Trump's gun restrictions? This troop thing is not new to their characters, it just tells you who of your friends and family is a fuckin hypocrite.

[–]wsr2022☑️ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I told someone the same thing this morning. I used slightly different wording but the message was the same.

It’s a cryin shame.

[–]HiddenFigure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was never about the troops. It was about a free for all to attack a black man, it was a way for Trump to be divisive and score political points with his racist base. He’s disrespected the military more than any president in history: mocking McCain’s service, refusing to lower the flag for him, mocking gold star families, and now this, turning his back on our troops while kissing Putin’s ass. He deserves more than impeachment, he deserves hard time in jail — Gen Pop.

[–]Fatz_Domino☑️ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]senseibuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My whole take on this story is:

You fucking knew. No way did Russia put a bounty on our troops and you didn’t.

Even if you didn’t know then... NOW YOU KNOW! Why are you not taking swift and decisive action against them??? The Trump administration is in the pocket of Russia. If you didn’t know then, now you know.

[–]lossaysswag☑️ 3 points4 points  (2 children)
