Hi! Just wondering if Kokomi is worth pulling for even with Fontaine coming up?

I need her for my Ayaka freeze team… but would it be better to skip her? I saw a leak saying healers will be important in Fontaine, so what do you guys think?

i cant decide how i feel about the idea of wristwatch being on standard 🤔

on one hand, the idea of him never getting a rateup after his initial banner really sucks. on the other, i personally probably wouldn’t go out of my way to pull for him (assuming hes a cryo on field dps), but he’s another character i wouldn’t mind losing 50/50 to.

i wish mhy would do something to help with the lack of guarantee for standard characters. some other games have choice tickets (letting you choose a 5*), either that you can buy or earn through events over time. or they could periodically do banners for standard characters, like they did with keqing… although, that can feel pretty bad because some reruns take so long that it feels as if a standard character is taking someone else’s place. i just feel like the longer the game goes on, the more of a problem the whole banner system is going to become lol.

ive made a rule for myself to pull on characters who are confirmed to be on standard. i missed it on tighnari but did it for dehya. luckily, i got tighnari while pulling for kirara, but the thought of not getting tighnari for god knows how many patches scares me.

i know i know theyre always on the standard banner, but its when youll actually get them, like me who got my first ever qiqi at ar 58

its nice to have a reason to make 50/50 losses not feel so bad, but it also feels really terrible to know that you have to rely solely on those to maybe get the character you want. thats the situation i’m in right now with tighnari 🥲

After getting Chongyun for the Xth times in this banner while still having no Kirara

My headcanon now is that Chongyun's Yang being so strong than he scared Box Cat away.

I could easily went though this abyss using some pretty helpful 5* but i dont know why i decided to torture myself using hyperbloom double electro to beat the second chamber, And even restricting more with only using 4* to do both chambers. It was so infuriating and painful i decided to go an use colleinternational for the second chamber and a half-asset sucrose aggravate (lvl 50 yaoyao somehow was pretty reliable for the first chamber and the consecrated frenzy) for the first one. fortunately, i was able to 36* with these teams but now im with the doubt if 12-1-2 is posible using fishl-kuki. I've seen othe people doing so with yae-fishl. but there was a nahida that melts throught the hydro lector. In my tortuous attemps I had to conform with dendro aether and his random targeting/low dendro gauge :,(. Apart fom that, The baptist is a joke and batman dies pretty fast with hyperbloom, Its so unfortunate these two were behind abyss freeze madness.

So, I've gotten my C+++ Xingqiu:

  • from the beginner banner
  • from limited character bannerS < plural
  • from standard banner
  • from the weapon banner
  • and the latest, from the standard banner again after spending a blue fate that I got from ascending...Xingqiu.

I don't know, just a guess, but I think he really likes me. /facepalm

Bought blue wishes and used them, saw that I had 7 pity for my next non blue colored wish. After buying my Kaeya con, I had 5 leftover glitter so I said OK sure I'll buy a blue wish with that. Nothing. I said, OK I can spare a few wishes from abyss for this. Did abyss and used 3 wishes for standard. This time, a pink star showed up. Please, I thought, please. And there you have it, my 14th Xinyan.

Odd thought, but if Wriothesley is going to standard, I wonder if they're trying to even out the gender ratio a bit? Diluc vs. Qiqi/Mona/Jean/Keqing, now jumping to vs. Diluc/Tighnari/Wrio... but then plus Dehya, so that kinda squashes the thought a bit.

But HSR started with near parity between male and female 5* characters, and going forward leaks suggest one new character each per patch for a while.

I wonder if data from Genshin show that male chars do just as well in sales (or keep some players engaged who might otherwise not play), and thus they've decided to embrace gender parity a bit more.

Also, Sumeru dropped a ton of 5* male chars, evening it out a lot in Genshin as well. We're now at 14 vs. 18 male to female 5* (including standard chars) if I counted right. If you exclude child characters, that drops to 14 vs. 15.

Just a thought I had as I grapple with the idea of Wrio on standard, haha.

(Please note I'm not trying to start a war, I pull male and female chars pretty much equally.)

Honestly i don’t think they have a checklist like that. People keep expecting them to drop a geo in there to fill the element checklist but they added an another pyro claymore. I feel like these patterns we try to figure out don’t really exist on their side as much haha

Not a big of Wriothesley's outfit. It's not slaying as much as I thought it would. I guess the general theme of Fontaine isn't my cup of tea. The characters look way more top heavy than usual, but really plain on the pants section.

For a main event that was supposed to be a TCG tournament and advertised as such... we barely get to see the actual competition :/

We spent more time running around like headless chicken doing unrelated things (and the payoff was dogshit!!)

Hoyo really dropped the ball on this one, why cant we have a nice little TCG tournament w/ no bullshit story to accompany it??

Also why does all event need to have some emotional scenes or a big lore tied w/ it?? Cant we just have a funny filler main event with the playable cast??

while i deleted my comments on first impressions on abyss, it's comforting to see - based on up/downvotes, the controversial status - that people are still on the fence about this new abyss, mostly negative on my negative comment, and positive on my positive comment. which is pretty cool in some perspective

No matter what your opinion is you'll step on someone's toes.

If you say the abyss wasn't that bad when building around the mechanics, you'll be labeled as an elitist whose flexing their skill.

If you say it is too difficult and it's unfair, you will be labeled as the reason Genshin won't ever get end game variety.

If you pick your words and try to remain as neutral as possible while ignoring your own opinion you could probably avoid downvotes. But what's the point in putting on a facade to get likes from others?

I had to resort to Hu Tao Burgeon on the second half and suffer through my Kokomi taser team on the first half, but I 9-starred Abyss 12. I've decided that I really hate Beidou though. She's just got too many problems to be an actually good unit despite her theoretical numbers looking great. She sucks in single target, she sucks in AoE, her energy problems are horrendous, and even in a favourable two-target situation you still lose all of your DPS if one enemy dies before the other or the enemies are more than like 5 mm apart (why yes, I did just get done fighting the consecrated beasts, how could you tell?)

Early arc was so great especially the tournament (peak), but the latter arc feels so dragged out and all over the place even to the point i forgot midoriya is main character, i mean, he didn't even show up for so long after he's done with his emo phase lol, also a lot of main antagonist problem is parental issue 💀

To be fair the latter arcs are so bad they retroactively ruin the whole story, but the first few arcs are really charming indeed. It's very similar to Naruto in that regard. Both series peak way too early and then it's all downhill from there.

I have this theory that it’s Shounen Jump’s fault partially. Demon Slayer and Haikyuu both ended at the same time, so BNHA had to carry and they likely pushed the creator to extend it. (They fucked with Bleach too, but I digress.) I think the creator also admitted that one of the movie endings was what he originally had in mind for the ending of the series, and I feel like him having to work toward a different ending all of the sudden shows.

It's Hori that fucked up the pacing. The manga was aimless for 20 volumes, but then he noticed he had to start working towards and ending somehow. So the story just does a 180 and now the villains have an army, there's a war going on out of nowhere, Deku becomes ben10 and all other characters are forgotten.

I'd go with the 4p nymph's dream. Even if you fail to burst every rotation and thus can't fully stack it, it still should outperform the 2p2p setup.

Also, if you have a sword billet lying around, you should definitely consider crafting Amenoma Kageuchi for Ayato. Even if its base ATK is a lot lower than Aquila's, it has a better substat, and a passive that slightly eases out his energy needs so you won't need that much ER. Plus it looks insanely good on Ayato.

Otherwise, Lion's Roar and Harbinger of Dawn are good alternatives that also outperform Aquila (and Amenoma), although their passives are conditional so their usefulness depends on the rest of the team, and they do nothing to help Ayato's energy needs.

Aquila's substat being phys DMG% makes it a very niche weapon. The only character that sort of wants it is Bennett, and only because his buff scales with base ATK. Everyone else is better off with a different sword.

Both Amenoma and Lion's Roar have an ATK% substat so they are very strong choices for Ayato, with Lion's Roar being a great option in taser teams.

As for Harbinger of Dawn, it's a great weapon if you can stay at >90% HP for its crit rate passive, and is specially strong if you have a buffer like Bennett on your team, since then HoD will outperform most of his other alternatives.

So I was at 73 pity on standard and at 9/12 ice cubes to ascend Aloy. As I start soft pity, I suddenly got really worried that I get a 5* and it finally is Dehya or Keqing, meaning no starglitter for Yae. But who knows, maybe I just get 2 ice cubes and go to sleep?

Nope, 3 ice cubes. I ascend Aloy and get a fate, pull on standard and it isn't even blue.

It's purple and it's Layla constellation. Well, not bad. We continue.

Looking at this post from the Star Rail sub has been quite interesting. Basically whether to tell an NPC the truth or a lie to keep him safe. I find the responses quite interesting. Some were imo reasonable responses like “he’s an adult and can make his own decisions” but I felt like there were quite a few more people than I expected who said the truth simply because it was the truth, disregarding the consequences. That seems very dangerous in real life. Because he may go out into space on his own searching for the girl and potentially ending up dead alone in space based of our own choice to tell him the truth. But it was still his decision based on the truth we told him. If the NPC was a real person, and died/disappeared because of your decision to tell him the truth, would you blame yourself for his death/disappearance?

What do you guys think?

Also I know I talk about Umineko a lot on here but this whole “Red Truth” thing along with whether to tell the truth even if it hurts someone very deeply screams Umineko and I was reminded of it the moment I saw the post. But interestingly, I also saw a few people mention that Persona 4 taught them that the hurtful truth was more important than a white lie. This imo brings an interesting topic of how different stories can portray the complete opposite morals depending simply on the context and presentation, with both views feeling completely valid.

If it were a case where there were truly no action he could take to improve the situation, where the only real options were making him feel bad knowing the truth or not making him feel bad in blissful ignorance, I'd be inclined toward a white lie. But there are lots of things he could do.

Sure, a very risky journey where he could die in space is one of them. But he could also just have a heart to heart with the woman and break up properly in a way that gives them both closure. Or look for ways to stay in touch however they can at a spacial/temporal distance. Or go see a space therapist to work through his grief. Or any number of other things. Basically, the lie is not a white lie. It's actively depriving him of opportunities to make things better.

Aside from that, it's not like you have any personal stake in the situation. Even in the worst case scenario, the only person who faces negative consequences is the guy himself. It's his choice to make and his responsibility to bear if it goes south.

An Umineko enjoyer out in the wild! I really have to reread it.

For that quest, I chose to tell the man the truth. I think it's a good idea to be aware of the consequences of telling the truth, and the chance of him dying in space because of it is possible.

But there was another quest on Herta Space Station where you also had the choice to tell either the truth or a lie to an android. If you tell the truth to the android, like the inventor of the android warned, it will self-destruct. I feel that the consequences are more directly in your hands. The android does not decide if she wants to hear the truth or the lie, and in turn, she does not decide if she'll die or not. We do. So I told her the lie. Where as with the quest you were talking about, what he decides to do with the infomation is his own decision afterwards. The truth will not directly hurt him, but, what decisions he makes because of the truth may.

I also based my decision off of what I would want to hear if I were in their place, of course, with knowing that that may not be what everyone else wants to hear. But as the choice of telling the truth or lie has fallen onto me, I guess I'll have to be the one to make that decision. If I were in the NPC's place, I'd like to hear the truth of what really happened to my lover. The decisions I make afterwards is nobody else's fault but mine. But if I were in the android's place, I'd rather not hear the sentence that has the ability to instantly make my head explode, lol

I agree with your first paragraph, no matter what I do, I can't make someone end their life or risk it. It was them who put it on the table in the first place. It's not a situation of me manipulating the person, either.

I really don't regard the decisions in the game as if it's real life. In HSR I tell truth to everyone. Irl, well I can't really predict the outcome and the people aren't putting phrases that suggest the possible outcome either. So it's more varied. I can lie because it will be safer or just because it's more convenient for me. I'm not really a fan of... idk... approach to this as if it's a real world moral dilemma? It's an interesting thing to discuss, that's for sure. But some people often start derailing it into "only a heartless person would choose X" and it's really not that deep as long as it's just an option in the game.

I would not blame myself, because what someone else does when they learn the truth is not my fault. If I kept it to myself and the guy hurt himself out of despair or something then I'd feel guilty because I intentionally deceived him and kept the truth.

I think it's important to respect other people enough to tell them the truth, and to be humble enough to accept that other people's decisions are their own. Someone choosing to do or not do something after I provided facts is their own decision, and I'd be taking agency away from them by claiming otherwise.

Assuming the truth is provided unembellished and with context, obviously. This is separate from intentional manipulation.

What if that person was a close family member or friend? Would you still not blame yourself? Imo it depends on context and I feel like this decision would heavily change for someone really close to them whether they tell the truth or a lie to keep them safe from harm, especially if that harm was the risk of literal death, knowing they could have prevented that. And I think most people would blame themselves to some degree at least initially if it was someone really close before moving on after a while

I’m about to try burgeon Xiangling because Thoma just isn’t enough pyro to break the cryo shields.

I think people viewing second half as "Burgeon" is leading them to play less good teams on it. The second side doesn't want Burgeon--it isn't asking you to do AoE transformative Dendro damage (which is what Burgeon does). It's asking for Hydro/Dendro/Pyro.

The reason that's not the same is that your team core doesn't have to be a Burgeon team--you can run 3 character team cores with a hanging 4th character purely there to break shields, because the DPS check is not that demanding on the non-shield portions so you can afford to use a 3 character team on those portions with the 4th character purely there to break shields. True Burgeon teams are actually less good than National+Dendro or Hyperbloom+Pyro at breaking shields because Burgeon Pyro appliers deliberately don't want to apply Pyro quickly to avoid triggering Burning. For this Abyss it's more important to just apply Pyro quickly to break shields. You can just use your 3-character core to kill normal health bars.

Nahida/Xiangling/Bennett/Xingqiu isn't "Xiangling Burgeon", it's 3-character National with Nahida as a flex shieldbreaker (which is why people are calling it Nahida National).

You make valid points, but in my specific case, I still don’t have a properly built National team. My XL is usually on a 2pc Emblem/2pc ATK build because I’ve given up on 4pc Emblem. That domain still gives me the shittiest artifacts. So Xiangling on a team for me is just there to apply pyro. She can do more damage with a Gilded build than her “normal” artifacts and she’s only lvl 80.

Didn’t end up working anyway. Even with Fav she didn’t have enough ER. I had to switch to good old Hu Tao and still only got 33 stars. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth more hours of my life for the last 3.

Yeah, I could see those giving Yoimiya trouble. I make them all teleport onto each other and use any AOE ability to kill them all at once. Even Hu Tao's meager AOE is enough for that.

Just have to get used to playing second half with hu tao, xingqiu, nahida, and Zhongli. Though I am leaning towards Thoma for easier pyro application and more off field damage.

In any event, 36 starring does feel great despite finding the floor super annoying.

Who said melt Ganyu was good against the Baptist? You can get a single shot in between his first two shields and setting up a pyro aura eats most of his downed time after killing the pyro shield. Part of that is my high ping making switching characters more troublesome than it should be, but it'd be an unpleasant experience nevertheless. I might retry with trusty old National later, but getting through 12-1 again isn't going to be fun.

Out of curiosity, what Bow is on Ganyu?

Also if you're doing Classic Melt, deploy Fanastic Voyage and Pyronado shortly before cracking his Pyro shield, rather than after. The downed state doesn't exceed the duration of those Bursts so losing some time on them doesn't matter.

You might also stand to benefit from dropping the shielder for Barbara or Kokomi if she's around since Baptist's attack uptime is so poor if you can respond to everything properly. It'll make going though 12-1B and 12-2B clumsy, but it should pay out provided you don't get anyone downed since you can heal so there's not a significant risk of ending up there with everyone in the red.

Note that I haven't actually tried dropping shield for Hydro, I just went Unga Bunga and smashed through with Diona in the shield. In any case, especially in light of ping definitely make sure to deploy Bursts right before cracking the Pyro shield, not once it's already down.

Well I went with Xiangling. I'd also recommend throwing Ganyu's Burst at the head of the Pyro Shield to help with chipping it if you aren't already, especially since Hamayumi's not involved it's a case where you might as well.

i originally tried melt and it beat my ass too. finally tried burgeon per some recommendations for second half and that actually made it quite easy for me after repeatedly getting wrecked with my other teams. idk if you’ve done that yet but that got me 36* since having pyro + dendro on second half was helpful (specifically i did national first half and hu tao burgeon second half)

Nope, Just went with Beidou/Fischl/Sucrose/Baizhu and Ganyu/Kazuha/Zhongli/Bennett. Was aiming for 33 stars from the start, so I focused on survivability to avoid a lot of retries. And then 12-3 nailed my ass to the wall.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY hell today has been,,,, a day for sure. For context I have not watched any anime since last summer when I watched like 10 episodes of Evangelion and then was never able to continue it due to a lack of motivation, even though I did find the story interesting. Since then I've been stuck in this horrible limbo of wanting to watch shows, but not having the physical capability to look it up and actually start watching iykwim. Well I felt somehow strangely motivated today and I watched 5 episodes of BF and Oshi No Ko's pilot

(BF) My friend has been nagging me for like actual years now to watch it because it made them cry a few times, but again I was in a burnout so I couldn't get to it. And actually the only reason I started watching it was because even though I was more interested in Oshi No Ko, but I promised my friend I'd watch BF first when I got out of my slump. It was honestly pretty alright, but definitely not something I would've picked up on my own bc the story didn't interest me at all. It still doesn't really, but it's alright enough. The music absolutely slaps though and the action is well animated, so that's fun. It just has a tad more guns and weirdly horny old guys than I'd prefer. Well if it gets too bad/triggering at any point I'll just stop watching I guess

(Oshi No Ko) Man I thought this show would be a good pickup to watch alongside BF because "some lighthearted idol stuff would be good to wash down the aftertaste of the heavier topics in BF"..... well let's just say that I ended up finding this story way more interesting than BF even though I've only watched the pilot. The setup to get to the real plot was a bit weird but I figured I just haven't watched enough anime to get used to the occasional questionableness lol. Definitely looking forward to the following episodes.

Honestly I'm really happy I could seemingly break out of my burnout now, since I'm gonna have more free time than I know what to do with soon. Now I can finally get to watching through my watchlist (watch me get into another burnout within a month from now lmao)

I remember there was once a post on main sub talking about how nahida is the strongest of all of them because mind reading is scary but they also ended up glorified her too much and forgetting that the other three also has some of her abilities (like shape shifting) and she is definitely has a lot to learn about. honestly if he really has to be cryo I'd want him to be either

  1. Reverse melt dps (but like one that was actually designed for it)
  2. Forward melt enabler (he'd kinda have to be cryo Xiangling for this to work but whatever it takes man)
  3. Hyperfridge compatible (decent enough off field cryo application, preferably not stationary)

I just don't like freeze tbh. Plus we have Ayaka for a freeze oriented cryo dps, and Ganyu who can do both pretty decently, so I'd like to see a reverse melt specialist too.

So far Hu Tao/Xingqiu/Zhongli/Yelan and Ganyu/Bennett/Diona/Xiangling continue to be able to eventually overturn anything the Abyss can be bothered to throw at me.

With Yae Miko having RUINED EVERYTHING, if 4.0 does present a 4* Path so that I can devote no more than 4800 Primogems to claim a single copy of a 4* character then I might make it a side project to actually do C6 Hu Tao since the "All Or Nothing" rule means that just doing C1 is unacceptable. Then C6 Ganyu would probably fall after that because buffing her side would probably be more important than buffing Hu Tao's side even more with C6 Yelan instead.

Just speculation, but I figure that she'd pop up like mika or kirara. Some 4.x patch will take us to sumeru for a main patch event (which are generally festivals) and she'd be introduced at that point.

If this is the case, I'd assume 4.3 or later since I'd imagine thru 4.2 is going to be fully focused on fontaine.

I haven't played Genshin in a while because I feel like there's not enough content to use your favorite characters in. Which makes me so sad to see some of these super cool leaks of characters that I'd love to main. But what fucking content do I "main" them in? Pacman? Brick Breaker? Waverider minigames? Hide and seek? The 2 hours of abyss per month? Bosses that will waste my time by being invulnerable half the fight? The overworld where a single Kazuha E instantly kills everything? These characters feel so wasted in Genshin.

I'm still praying that they add another world level or another form of combat related endgame, because I'm feeling this too. It's to the point where I just wanna pull for the hydro archon and then take a long break until things change.

I intentionally use pretty shit artifacts in overworld so it remains interesting and I can use bursts against enemy groups. The only things I really build are ER, HP and crit rate if the character uses Fav.

New abyss is pretty painful, so if you've got some goofy favs, it may take multiple hours this time :)

One day they'll add a new endgame mode... for sure...
