[FRESH] The Weeknd - Popular (feat. Playboi Carti & Madonna) by analmintz1 in hiphopheads

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

this.....is garbage.

Carti and Madonna were pure trash on this, and Weeknd couldn't save it either.

The Weeknd is my fav singer, as I'm sure that's the case to many. But it's obvious why this didn't make an album.

Jimmy Butler tonight: 13 points on 6/14 shooting, zero free throws by EarthWarping in nba

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Butler in the 2021 playoffs: got completely outplayed by Bryn Forbes. Butler averaged 14 points, on 29% shooting, by far the worst playoff series I’ve ever seen by a #1 option in the NBA.

Hope this series isn't a repeat of that

When do you think that LeBron starts to enter the Top 10 Player of All-Time list? by collectivekicks in nba

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably in the summer of 2013. By his second title, he had won 4 mvps, went to 4 NBA finals. By 2018, he had went to 9 NBA finals, 8 straight finals trips. 3 titles, one of them being the most improbable NBA title of all time, that boosted him to #2 by most people, but there were still a significant portion of people who didn't want to put him over Kareem.

But by 2020, the list accomplishments got too crazy, and I think he is undeniably #2 all time, and it's not crazy to understand why people have him as 1a/1b with Jordan.

Dude single handedly destroyed the Celtics and Hawks

I don't think Tristan singlehandedly did anything in his career lol. He was a role player.

2019 and 2021. It wasn't that long ago. Bud was fired just 2 years after the title.

Fans put way too much value into coaches. Like i mentioned, there's only a handful of these top tier coaches that are hard to replace (Pop, Kerr, Spo, maybe a couple others), and guys like Monty aren't one of em

Pat Riley's annual drive to win a championship after Lebron left has got to be the best B-plot in the NBA. Gotta appreciate his devotion to wanting his team to see the promise land. by Far-9947 in nba

I feel like if you're posting an old video, you have to put the year in the title. That has to be a rule on this sub, mods gotta add that. This video is like 4-5 years ago.

Nick Nurse and Budenholzer just recently won a ring and were easily replaced quickly. Unless you are a tier 1 coach like the ones I mentioned, your value as a coach is only as great as the players you're coaching

80 mil for a coach in 2023. Absolutely absurd. Obviously it doesn't matter, just out of the owners pockets, not a cap hit. But the coach is the most replaceable asset on an NBA team today. Other than Pop, Kerr, Spo, most of these other coaches are on the same level.

[Charania] Breaking: Monty Williams and the Detroit Pistons have agreed in principle on a six-year, $72 million deal for Williams to become the franchise’s new head coach, sources tell me and @JLEdwardsIII. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days. by Michael_B_Lopez in nba

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

if you're paying 70+ million dollars to a coach in 2023, you're simply out of your mind. Obviously it doesn't affect the cap, it'll just come out of the owners pocket. But strange choice all around.

Coaches have proven to be so replaceable. There's maybe like 3 remaining great coaches in the league, and that's Pop, Kerr, and Spo. The rest of these guys are just about the same.

I'm sorry, but the amount of excuse making for Tatum is hilarious. Giannis won a championship on a broken ankle. Tatum can't play a pivotal game 7 on a rolled ankle? He could only put up like 12 shots? You gotta go out shooting man, you can't go down like that.

I think Tatum was much worse than Brown, he should have taken a lot more shots.

And i'm not buying the rolled ankle excuse, sorry. Giannis won a championship on basically a broken ankle. Tatum can't even shoot more than 12 shots on a rolled ankle?

yea. I think the writers left it intentionally conflicting, because while Kendall was clearly in the wrong for driving under the influence, the waiter grabbed the wheel and ultimately sealed his fate.

But Kendall blames himself for the death entirely until so long, all the way until the finale where he is in complete denial.

Should Eric Spoelstra Be Considered One Of The Greatest Coaches Of All Time? by SlinkyJr in nba

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find it ridiculous that LeBron or another player would want one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NBA to coach again

Interesting, so you don't think it's ridiculous that in that meeting with Wade, LeBron, and Bosh, the players would ask a pretty normal question about Pat Riley wanting to coach again, because he already did that once before by un-retiring and coaching after Van Gundy.

And yet, you've build a narrative through about 20+ comments by now that LeBron is some nefarious actor who hated Spolestra and wanted him fired....all over the players asking Pat Riley a basic ass question about wether he ever wants to coach again.

This is how you people build a narrative, and you can't even recognize it. And the worst part is imo, you can't even admit your underlying point, about why you want your narrative to be true.

Lmao, man hating LeBron is so incredibly easy, he gives people a million reasons to do so. But you've chosen such a convoluted way to hate Lebron that you can't even admit why you want it to be true that LeBron somehow hated Spolestra and wanted him to be fired. This is what happens when you let your hate for a player turn into blind hatred.

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already posted that same quote, here and in another comment thread you were replying to me to.

Again, why do you think it is ridiculous that players would ask Pat Riley if he wanted to un-retire and coach again? He already did that once when he came back and coached the Heat, after he knew Van Gundy wasn't working out.

What part of this suggests to you that LeBron hates Spolestra or wanted him fired? If Pat Riley himself saying that storyline is fake isn't enough, I don't know what will be. Again, I ask you, what underlying point do you actually want to convey? Just admit your point, convey your actual thoughts rather than tiptoeing around storylines.

Stop being scared and say what you actually mean

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pat Riley saying LeBron wanted Spo fired.

here is the excerpt from that:

“The thought was in their mind at times that maybe I would come back and coach, I think. But I was truly done, I didn’t want to get back into it, and Erik is a hell of a coach. He was coming off two good playoff years, but he had not been coaching three superstars. And then with the whole LeBron effect, it would have been a tough transition for any head coach with two years of experience.”

Pat Riley himself came back to coach the Heat, when he knew Van Gundy wasn't working out. Is it wild for players to think Pat Riley would want to un-retire again? because he already did it once before. To suggest that them asking if Pat Riley if he ever wants to coach again means they hate Spolestra is wild, and ridiculous.

You people are reaching, grasping at straws for this fake storyline to be true, that LeBron hated Spolestra and wanted him gone. When in reality, they went to 4 straight NBA finals together and won 2 titles. Obviously theres ups and downs in every year for every team, but 4 finals and and 2 titles is pretty damn great for a 4 year tenure.

It's just interesting to me, why do you want it to be true that LeBron hated Spolestra and wanted him gone? What's your underlying point in all this? Even though it comes from a fake narrative, I want to know your actual thoughts.

again, not a quote from Riley, that was a quote from an irrelevant minority owner named Ranaan.

Should Eric Spoelstra Be Considered One Of The Greatest Coaches Of All Time? by SlinkyJr in nba

[–]WhenItsHalfPastFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're an absolute liar purposefully misleading people. That's not what Riley said, that was a quote from a random minority owner of the team named Raanan, not Pat Riley.

The irrelevant minority owner also has some wild opinions like "Lebron James screwed us badly" and that article was Raanan supporting his guy Blatt, because he was shareholder of Maccabi Tel Aviv when Blatt coached there long ago. If you somehow think LeBron advocating to firing David Blatt was wrong, I don't know what to tell you, That was the absolute correct decision.

You people simply don't read the entire article you even link.

Learn how to read, and then form your opinions. It's fine to hate LeBron, it's actually pretty easy to do that without constantly lying and making up stuff to fit your narrative. LeBron gives people infinity reasons to hate him, and absolute clowns will find infinity fake stories somehow and make a fool out of yourselves

getting David Blatt immediately fired

in what way was that a bad thing?

here’s just so much smoke you can’t just hand-wave that it’s a fake storyline

If Pat Riley himself is saying it's fake, it's fake man. Also you clearly didn't read the article you linked, because all it says is LeBron asked Pat if he ever had the itch to coach again, not that he wanted Spo gone.

Riley openly said this wasn't the case: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/14669732/miami-heat-president-pat-riley-says-lebron-james-never-asked-erik-spoelstra-fired

The fact that people still run with this fake storyline is really funny. Like yea man, obviously people hate LeBron. But even Pat Riley is saying this is fake
