Informal style wedding by alphacreed1983 in weddingplanning

So we sort of tried to do this, but we weren’t married quite yet. The original plan was get married with immediate family only and then big party. One thing I never expected was that nearly every venue still wanted to charge outrageous pricing for a party. One place said their fee was $17k, after originally telling us it was $12k, because it “sounded more like a wedding”. And this was just to rent the space! Anyway, this just became a logistical and financial nightmare and we switched gears completely on the plan. So, my advice is look at doing it in a backyard or something. And I guess what I’m saying is I wish I would have thought of the wedding price gouging (when it wasn’t even going to be a wedding) before wasting a few months contacting venues.

Scottsdale Honeymoon - Any recs/tips? by No_Fact_8573 in honeymoonplanning

Hi! Az native here. My first thought was maybe check out The Sanctuary. It’s in such a beautiful location right at Camelback Mountain. I’m not sure on pricing, though, but it’s in an area that feels very secluded and private but you’re also right in the center ish of metro Phoenix and you could definitely venture out to see other areas of the city if you wanted!

Honestly this is the route I am leaning as well. I can’t stand the itchy, crunchy fabric. I think that’s hilarious that your mom was saying the fabric is awful to the stylists, haha! It’s true though. It’s shocking how expensive the dresses are vs how terrible the material is. The only dress I’ve tried so far where the material was nice on the entire thing (and I think it’s a $1700 dress?) is an Essence of Australia dress. It’s still a good option and maybe in alterations it would give me a better shape once it’s fit to my body properly. Like the bodice seemed a little too long for my torso. Anyway, I’m definitely looking at Still White.. there’s tons of dresses on there which is awesome! Can I ask which dress you ended up with?

Thank you! I’ve been looking at Etsy and there are some really beautiful options. I want to make sure I find a style that suits me first, so that if I go the custom route or Etsy route, I at least know what to look for on there! It’s so exhausting though.

I just checked and I do! Their lowest price appears to be $2100 and looks like most are around $3k which is more than I feel comfortable spending for one day :( thank you for the suggestion.

I found my dress! Should I (can I?) remove the train? by MisterAxolotl in weddingplanning

[–]aquietinspiration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling to find the one but fingers crossed I’ll find it soon! And to answer your actual question, I think I asked the stylist this exact question about shortening the train.. I THINK it was on this dress. She said that there’s a piece of lace that edges the train, and that they un-stitch that, remove the amount of length you want to remove, and then add that trim back on! So take a look underneath the train at the edge and see if it looks like a separate piece. If so, apparently it’s very easy to alter!

That is helpful, thank you! At my 4th appointment this past Saturday every dress started to look exactly the same and I ended up leaving that appointment after only 30 min (I’d had another appointment elsewhere right before it). It sure is exhausting.

Omg how funny!! I was there Saturday at 11am! It was the last dress I tried on. It’s possible that it’s a smaller size that you ended up trying/buying because I didn’t try this one on until around 12:30 on Saturday (it was the last one I tried on because she couldn’t find it until the end of the appointment). Anyway, this is how I WISH the dress had looked on me! It looks stunning on you!

True A line is the only shape I’ve liked. The one with really nice material was a modified A line and I thought it didn’t create enough of a balance between my shoulders, making my shoulder and chest look really big. Fitted dresses have only made me look like a potato, in my opinion. The other 2 dresses I liked were both A line, one had very scratchy fitted sleeves, and the other one had a scratchy skirt. I hope I explained that well!

I don’t think I’ve tried any like that. I think I tried a very simple crepe dress at a recent appointment and loved the feel but not the look. I will specifically ask for this at my next appointment, thank you!

Yes, all sorts. The ones that have had soft comfortable material either don’t really flatter me or are too simple for me. I can’t pull off the modern simple look.

I took a 2 week break between the first two shops, then another week and went to the next two on the same day. My biggest surprise in this process is how awful the material feels on most of the dresses vs how expensive they still are!

Omg Is this at Brilliant Bridal?! I tried on this exact dress at a place in Az called Brilliant Bridal 2 days ago and the style was just what I was looking for, but didn’t love how it looked on me. Holy moly this looks absolutely GORGEOUS on you. Congratulations!!

Why the Hate? by beeandcrown in prius

Last week my Prius broke down and I was pulled off the freeway well onto the shoulder with my flashers on. I had two different lifted trucks purposely swerve onto the shoulder coming right at me. I don’t get it.

I walked away. Was just posting to show how crazy dealerships are acting right now.

I did not. He put them on the sheet and told me I was required to purchase those even though they were not yet on the car and I didn’t want them.
