Late night bars that aren't just beats by tags89 in glastonbury_festival

Plus it's just a big area so I can't imagine it gets particularly full and I imagine most people sit in the cars rather than it being a big weird dance party, which is what's so great about a traditional silent disco. The Silver Hayes silent disco suffered from the same size issue where compared with the Park tent it just never felt as cohesive and interesting despite being arguably a more interesting venue.

Sounds like that was the problem in the first place

Completely agree. I'd say maybe it's still a covid hangover, but I've got a feeling it wasn't there 2019 either.

Why do dealers place fentanyl in drugs when it has a high potential of killing their clientele? by ikebeattina in answers

[–]Pughsli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a huge difference between killing your customers slowly over decades while extracting significant capital from them and potentially killing your customers the first time they try your product. These aren't comparable; the drug trade in general sure is as tobacco is just a legal drug trade, but the only reasonable comparison would be if the tobacco industry was cutting tobacco with fentanyl or some equally potentially immediately lethal substance.

You're describing astigmatism, which is distinct from short sightedness (myopia) and can occur in either long or short sighted folks.

there’s news that the tent won’t be there this year.

Source on this?

Can't see them just getting rid of William's Green wholesale, maybe rebranding it or shifting it around. While I want Glasto to continue to change and evolve, I don't want them to just keep cutting corners, which it felt a bit like last year. Understandable in the current climate, but that's why the price goes up. I think the majority of people at Glasto would rather pay more and keep the quality and variety up than cut corners to keep the ticket price vaguely the same.

There is a silent disco up near The Park

There used to be, but we haven't been able to find it the last few years. Not sure if it moved?

The point is it requires a long term multigenerational effort to shift the greater societal attitude towards littering in the country. It's never going to be perfect, but littering is a really bad problem in the UK that really needs a concerted effort to try and reduce the percentage of people who are complete twats, not just snarky "we'll fine you if you litter, but you'll never be caught so it doesn't actually mean anything" posters, as if these people are even reading those anyway.

This was a new PB at 290ft, what should I be working on with my form? by ACompellingArgument in discgolf

[–]Pughsli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're facing fully away from the target before your X-step, that X-step with the right foot is similarly facing completely away from your apparent line (off the right corner off the box). So by far the biggest thing you should work on is your footwork and timing:

  • Stay side-on in your walk up and into the X-step.
  • You put your toe down in the X-step first, which is good, but this shouldn't be angled so extremely away from the target. I'd recommend trying to plant it 90 degrees (perpendicular) to your intended line at first to really try and keep facing sideways. As your form improves the X-step foot can actually be angled a bit away from the target and that's an area you will see a lot of variance in good form, but the main thing to focus on is not turning your entire body away from the target at this point, so aiming for 90 will help reinforce that.
  • Try and stay on the toe of this foot throughout the X-step as well rather than relaxing back into the heel. Push with your X-step forwards into the plant step, rather than coming down vertically onto it, like you're trying to stop your forward momentum quickly.
  • By far the biggest thing is going to be improving timing by not turning away from the target so early. Begin to rotate your shoulders and hips away from the target only after your X-step is down and your plant foot is making its way forward. You want to be at your maximum coil away from the target at the instant your plant foot is coming down, which is when you fire your hips and off-arm. Your shoulders lag behind this, accelerating into the hit point.
  • Your throwing arm generally looks decent, though I'm not a fan of having the disc out in front as you start the runup myself, but plenty of people and pros do something similar, so if you're doing the rest right that's not necessarily super problematic. Power pocket looks solid and I like how your elbow stays up and out, not collapsing towards the body, and looks like good extension out away from the body at the hit point.
  • The release is a little nose up, so try focusing a bit on really "pouring the coffee" or supinating a bit more. But it's important not to let that stiffen up your wrist so that it doesn't flick at the point of impact. It's not possible to tell what you're doing from the video, but it looks ok. So much speed and spin comes from having that wrist loose such that it coils coming out of the power pocket and snaps forward at the hit point as your arm hits full extension. So if your stiffen up that wrist while working on getting the nose down and the rest of it then it can very much be one step forwards, two steps back.

Overall I'd say you've got a solid foundation to work from though. Ultimately everything can be improved and that can be disheartening and it's tough to know what to focus on as a priority, but those would be my recommendations that should start to see the biggest improvements.

Who are some pros that primarily throw flat drives? I know Kevin Jones is a big hyzer flip guy, but as I work on form I find myself going flatter and flatter and would like to study. Interested to learn more about personal throwing styles if anyone has any info. by [deleted] in discgolf

Not that I know anything about Bradley, the situation, or bigger picture, but sometimes people just need to experience consequences to their behaviour and actions in order to properly self-reflect and change. I find this is often why people (and animals in general) shielded from consequences to their behaviour for whatever reason so often seem to have problems or act like assholes.

Up to date, precise list of prohibited/controlled substances in Japan? by jbradfield in JapanTravel

[–]Pughsli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition, no product containing the designated pharmaceutical ingredients (see linked table)(57KB), which is sold in foreign countries/regions with advertisement on enhancing cerebral function and other mental effects, shall be imported, unless use of such a product is complying with doctor’s prescription or instruction. However, it would be permissible for foreign travelers to bring such a medicinal product into Japan by his/her self, in the purpose of self-medication during his/her stay.

Regardless of the description above, you cannot bring prohibited drugs and controlled drugs into Japan.

So... we can or we can't bring ADHD medication (specifically Vyvanse) from this description? Not even a little clear, seems to say both at the same time.

If anyone gets a clear answer from the Japanese Embassies then please let us know!

EDIT: The FAQ section here clarifies:

Can I bring VYVANSE (*approved in the US, for ADHD treatment, also authorized in other countries named as ELVANSE, VENVANSE, ADUVANZ, TYVENSE, etc.) into Japan? Yes. Lisdexamfetamine, API of VYVANSE, is controlled as "Stimulants' Raw Materials" under the Stimulants Control Act. You can import/export it into/from Japan, by getting an advanced permission. Actually vigilante justice isn't ok and you will most likely be kicked out of the venue or worse arrested for assault. By all means make a fuss, alert security, shame them as much as you like, but violence is not the answer.

shameful enough to nudge their way through a crowd

What? No one likes people moving past them at a gig, but the crowd is never gonna be static, least of all at a fucking gizz show. Obviously groping people isn't acceptable, and the people that aggressively shove their way through are a different matter, but you've got unrealistic expectations of what's reasonable at a gig if you think people can't get past you at all

He's played them all at this point I think, and he's always on the poster anyway. He does multiple sets every year regardless. What's incredible is that this will be my 7th Glastonbury and yet I've somehow managed to avoid ever seeing Fatboy Slim. Maybe this is the year he finally sneaks in.

Yeah, and they've had Foals in recent years too, but as a specific act they've said they wouldn't put on as a surprise in the Park again, and arguably still bigger than either solo-JW or Foals, I'd be surprised to see it happen.
