Alright, I guess I’m the only person who didn’t enjoy the Questlove episode
You’re not the only one. I was looking forward to an interesting conversation with the four of them, specially after the intro where they seemed to be in sync with each others energy, but I feel like it went off the rails a little. I don’t think he was full of himself, but I do think he rambled a bit too much with little room for even Conan to come through, let alone Matt or Sona. I loved that he was clearly a fan but I’m learning that there is a certain temperament to being a podcast guest and he missed the mark on this one. Such a shame.
the other day a store clerk asked me what my tattoo was, (the cover of twfm) and obviously didn't know who the national was, my question to you guys, what's your go to song when you're trying to show someone the national?
Bloodbuzz is also my go-to. It’s very The National without scaring anyone away haha.
New listener rant
Please do a sad dad soliloquy for each album, thanks.
Aaron’s IG Reel
Same!
Two shows— same band, same state, same year… bearsville & msg
Truly iconic. What amazing experiences, both of them. Chills just looking at these pics.
Eucalyptus is one of their best songs live
For me, it’s the way he says “I don’t care”. I’ve seen them on tour 3 times this year and i could hear his voice break every time. So much emotion, everytime. I’m always blown away by the performance.

His “fingernail polish” move with his arm extended, fingers splayed out 💅. So adorable and dainty.
Eucalyptus is one of their best songs live
It’d be so alone.
What are you all listening to?
I haven’t listened to anything other than The National in months. It’s too much and a little problematic, really.
The National - Space Invader
They played it in New Haven a couple of weeks back too - it was sick.
SWB Songs Live
Fuck me, best song on the album. Destroys me every time.
How did you find The National?
What The National song did you spin to??? I love them so much but sometimes struggle to make a playlist to run to.
SWB is my whole personality at this point. Wallpaper/photo by me :)
This fucking song.. this whole album actually… destroys me (as promised).

I’ll Still Destroy You is an epic-level song.
“Put your heels against the wall, I swear you got a little bit taller since I saw you.” — my favorite The National lyric ever. Gets me every time.
MNPLS Setlist was INSANE ❤️
That’s beautiful.
Why don't we talk about Serpentine Prison more?!
Such a great album. Agreed - it doesn’t get much airtime on this sub. Totally underrated.
MSG special guest
The National were scheduled to play right before Billie Eilish. Her fans were right up front by the rails . There are photos of The National performing an amazing setlist (and giving it their all!!!) to rows and rows of bored-looking people standing around on their phones and and chatting. I was at the New Haven show the day before and the vibe was absolutely electric. We were all thrilled to be there and hanging on their every move! For the band, I can’t imagine going from that to apathy in their audience.
MSG special guest
Oh god please I hope not. I’m sure Taylor is great, but the sad middle aged demo of TN concert goers can’t handle Taylor’s fandom unleashed on us. Look at what happened at Osheaga. I will be shuffling towards MSG next week and would LOVE for Michael Stipe to show up, but god no Taylor please.
Best experience when close to rail
It’s uncanny how I’ve had the exact same experience. I always find myself in the left! I’m not complaining, I’ve thoroughly enjoying looking up at him shred his guitars. My favorite Bryce moment is him slamming a guitar on the ground for the sick reverb in I Need My Girl. Goosebumps everytime.
Favorite band member?
TEAM BRYCE!
New Haven trip
Dang it. I purchased today via the venue website but hearing horror stories about the vendor they used. We can’t seem to win!
New Haven trip
Hi! Did you buy from Ticketmaster or the westville website?
Chicago, 4 nights, 55 songs…. Thoughts?
This was a gift from the music gods. And that’s from someone who didn’t get to see them in Chicago. For the lucky who did - I hope you felt the power of what you was happening.
As a fan who has been complaining about a repetitive setlist, I feel so heard. I’m scouring the internet like a rabid dog looking for clips and videos from this residency. God I love this band so much. Great job all around! I’m excited for the remainder of this tour.
I want The National to cover E-Bow the Letter with Patti Smith at MSG.
Absolutely. Love Country Feedback. Still would love a NTL cover of E-bow though.
