Weekly Team Help Megathread! by AutoModerator in TheSilphArena

[–]Scarepwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely does! Does that mean that sometimes it’s better to run a Pokémon with worse IV’s (maybe low attack and high HP) so it will run in certain leagues? If so, when would you want higher attack stats and when would you want lower attack stats?

I appreciate the help! If there are any resources I should be reading instead of asking a bunch of questions, you can feel free to point me in that direction. I’ve read some but wasn’t quite understanding so your explanations have been very helpful in my understanding of how they’re all applied in practice

What do you think would be the move for a third ghost? Something super tanky and defensive to soak up a bad match up? Something with a non-ghost move set to get around resistances?

This was a wonderful summary and just what I needed, thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, what makes Pokémon better in one league as opposed to another? I would assume higher evolutions would most always be better

Ok, I have a bit of a weird ask:

I love Ghost Pokémon and would love to make a team of all ghosts. In my ideal world, I would have an all ghost team for each of the main leagues.

I understand this is not optimal and they aren’t the most abundant type out there, but it’s a goal I’d like to pursue.

With that being said, how would you go aboutthis? I’m fairly new to the PVP side of things and want to avoid a situation where I max out one pokemon only to learn that they suck in one league but would’ve been great if I kept them at a lower CP.

Any advice?

For context, I currently have the following in various contexts: - Gengar - Spiritomb - Drifblim - Frillish - Duskull - Sableye - Yamask - Litwick

I thought about it! I felt like it added some context (like moving layers or selecting different tools and what not) but I’ll play with that for next time

He was a contestant on Season 2 but went home after a week though non of his segments were aired.

Which happens sometimes. The latest season had 3 engagements they didn’t even show

Anyone have a complete list of all the band members' side projects and who they involve? by thebeast_96 in TheNational

Oh man, there are so many… there’s also all the classical music/music scores that the Dessners do.

Matt has also appeared on three of Walter Martin’s songs and Walt helped him quite a bit with serpentine prison

You fell right into my trap!

The next step of my diabolical plan is to get you to leave a review and tell your friends

It’s a great read! And yeah, overlap with fans and they run in the same crowds. For extra context, Walter Martin helped make Matt’s solo record, Walking on a String, and Matt has appeared in a number of Walt’s songs so there is some more overlap too

The Walkmen were kind of mentors to The National. The National opened for them on a tour and looked up to the band.

I think both bands had this kind of preppier, suit-and-a-job kind of aesthetic that was a little different from the grimier aesthetics and sounds of bands like The Strokes.

I just moved so all my books are packed away, but if you read Meet Me In The Bathroom or the book detailing the creation of Boxer, both talk a lot about their relationship. I spoke with Matt more about it too but I’ll be using those segments in some future episodes.

TLDR: They both came out of the same era of New York rock and The National opened for The Walkmen and looked up to them.

My favorite line in this vein is…

Got up to seize the day With my head in my hands, feeling strange When all my thinking got mangled And I caught myself talking myself off the ceiling

The amount of days I’ve woken up wired and ready just to stumble through the rest of it is staggering. This is definitely my favorite line in the song, and there are so many good lines

Of course!

So basically I had been listening obsessively to Walter Martin’s music and just waiting for his next full album. He released the first single, The Bear, and I instantly knew I wanted to talk about it.

I spent the next day or so putting together a short 6 minute proof of concept about that track using an Instagram video he posted about it in place of any recorded interview. I sent that proof of concept and a PDF explaining my vision to the email on his website.

He got back to me and was intrigued! He sent me the rest of the album early and we met up a couple times over the phone to talk about the project before moving to the interviews. We were going to try to release it closer to the album release but I had a lot of big life events that pushed it back (which I talk about in the show. I think it ultimately made it better).

Once I got through life events, he reached out to all the guests and put me in contact. Then I interviewed a bunch of great people, and spent the last month or so combing through audio, fitting it into the analysis, and structuring/recording everything.

It’s been a process and an adventure and I’m really glad to have it finally out in the world

It was so much fun! He was the first non-Walter interview I did for the show and I was super nervous but he was just so genuinely excited to talk about Walter’s music. You’ll here more on that in future episodes, but you get a taste here when he excitedly talks about The Walkmen getting back together
